Title: No phone signal
Post by: Vichyssoise on 07 August 2014, 02:49:23 pm
I am currently waiting for a reg ( am I allowed to call him a reg. Third time) in a new hotel for me and although the hotel is fine in all respects the phone signal is non existent. Tomorrow I have three new ones. What should I do? I won't be able to contact my security.  :-\. My security is my husband he wants to change hotels for one about 40 minutes away. What should we do?

This is one of the things we cant check up on before going and why hotel reviews on SAAFE are good.  We look for these things.

Have you tried moving your phone around the room.  When I used to go to Belfast this happened a fair bit but I usually got around it by moving the phone about.

Apart from this route i cant think of any other way of checking in with hubby unless texting works.  I would be testing it out before I got started.

Moving to another hotel could prove expensive, esp if you are not given any guarantees with them either and you dont know if clients will be happy with other hotel either.

Good luck whatever you do.

If you have a smartphone it might be worth paying for the hotel WIFI and using an internet based messenger app / iMessage etc ?

Why not just move to a different room? I do it all the time - they can't all have no signal, surely?

Well after searching round the room and waving arms in the air eventually found a signal on the window ledge and hubby's business phone worked in coffee shop and outside area so we were able to get by but a bit stressful. Internet didn't work in room either. I asked one of the staff where was the best place for phone signal in hotel and she said 'outside probably'. All was well in the end though. In all other aspects the venue was brilliant just a pity on this one most important issue. Thanks all for your replies and input. Much appreciated.  :)

After being caught out like this in the back arse of Cornwall
I now ring any new hotel and ask them what there signal is like

Trick - stay close to wifi point / router is often the best place for a signal
