relocating
« on: 22 November 2011, 12:49:07 pm »
Unfortunately London is not really working for me i have been here for a year

and half. The main reason I came to London was to study and I have recently

discovered even with student loans it is going to be very difficult to make ends

meet. I  have also been aggressively looking for part time work and  attending

work trails to no avail.  Hence contacting other schools  in Edinburgh which

seem just as  good with cheaper fees and living expenses i have decided to do

some research, prepare over a few months and relocate. So i wished to ask any

Scottish ladies or other ladies familiar with working/touring Scotland could say

roughly what its like,if one can make a moderate income say at least  400-700

pounds a week fairly regularly, safety and general living advice since i will be

studying,  I would be grateful.Other areas I am also considering for

working/studying are Dublin,Bath and Hertfordshire.Thanks

P.S. If anyone could also spare a few moments to volunteer some careers studying

(further education and uni)via pm for reasons of discretion i did not wish to

mention the actual career fields and colleges.Thank-you :)

My first thought was that I am surprised that Edinburgh is substantially cheaper than London. It's a lovely, lovely city, but be prepared for even less daylight in winter and there can be more prejudice against some people... like the English.

Speaking as an englishwoman who has lived in Scotland since July I can honestly say I have NEVER come accross any kind of prejudice in either Glasgow or Edinburgh.  In fact I've only come accross real warmth and friendliness.  I understand some english guys have problems, but some of them (not all) bring that upon themselves.

It's possibly an age-related thing too. I know more than one person who had a tough time at schools there because of their English accent.

If I had the money, I'd have a flat in Edinburgh... and central London and... :)

I was born in Edinburgh and I love the place - I work there fairly regularly and I would agree it's cheaper than London, but not by that much and (as ever) it depends where you want to base yourself. The house prices are astronomical, and I suspect that renting isn't far behind. I know lots of English people who live there and do fine (on average I would say that half of my regular clients there are English rather than Scottish) and it's generally a pretty cosmopolitan sortae place.

Given the increasingly difficult situation in Glasgow, and the far more tolerant attitudes regarding the brothels and seemingly agencies in Edinburgh (just in case you have teething problems getting started as an indie and just want somewhere to earn some money) I would personally go for the latter every time, although how long this tolerance will last is anybody's guess. Your other major problem will be competition, but if you're relocating from London this shouldn't be anything too out of the ordinary and the main trick as ever is to stand out :).

As a scot living in Scotland I will confirm what the others have said and say that Edinburgh is much more brothel/parlour tolerant.  I think I heard lately that the last parlour in Glasgow is being closed down soon if it hasnt been done already.  If you were thinking of sharing then you must be aware that there are continual raids go on in Glasgow which usually come to nothing but are hanging over the girls heads for six months before they go to court.  :(

Looking at the figures on AW there is about 50% less independent prossies in Edinburgh than there is in Glasgow.  In Glasgow, even for Scots girls it is cut throat.  Even the longer established WGs are finding it hard.  Newbies/touring girls will work for a short while but the other night 50 newbies sprung up in Scotland - I'm not saying that is all Edinburgh but it shows you the rate that the numbers are going up.

Unfortunately in towns where there are students you will find earning rates for the permanent workers is a lot lower and in places like Bristol where there is an abundance of students the girls would be as well paying the guys their prices are so low.  So somewhere like that is not recommended.

Good luck with whatever you choose.

Beauty is nothing to do with having a pretty face.
It is about having a pretty mind, a pretty heart,
And most importantly a beautiful soul.

Thanks guys  :D well i still need to look at certain things first, save up for the move and the worst case scenario if I have a cheaper base than london then i can just tour not be in Edinburgh constantly. Then that would mean i postpone my studies till the next intake to enable me to save enough. If I have any further questions may get in touch with you guys  on this matter again?

P.S. Hello Amy I do not know why strangely I thought you were from Yorkshire? lol :)

Well, I'm in Yorkshire (and have been for thirty years) but I'm not from Yorkshire :).

Edinburgh isn't cheap, but it's a good base - you're on the EastCoast mainline for if you wanted to do mini-tours to Aberdeen or Dundee say, and also if you wanted or needed to pop back to London for anything plus from my experience the punters are nice and I've rarely got messed about much there. You could also do odd days in Glasgow if you wanted, and AFAIK many ladies cover both places.

Have a look in the Touring section for hotel and other info - there's a fair bit about Scotland (including advertising too) that could be helpful if you haven't been before.
