So she ignored the email I sent. I have pasted it below:

"Dear x

I hope you are well. I have not heard from you since your visit after the neighbours complained because I have visitors. I would really appreciate it if you could let me know your plans regarding the lease which is expiring in July. Will you renew it or will I have to vacate? I like to plan in advance so it would really help me if you could let me know as soon as possible.

I have paid the rent for March. Please see the attached receipt. Thank you so much

Kind regards

L.S.D"

Did I word it correctly? She didn't respond. I guess her ignoring me is a way of communicating her anger and disappointment. I kinda feel guilty to be honest. I feel like I deceived her. I wonder if the apartment needed urgent repairs, would she ignore me too? And I don't know if her ignoring me means I can stay till July or I will have an eviction notice served any day now, along with more intimidation

I wouldn't have sent an email, I would have carried on as 'normal' awaiting her contact.

Over 6 weeks passed since the visit and she wasn't saying anything

I agree, OP comes out as quite weak and vulnerable in the email, as in "I know I've done something wrong, when will you punish me Miss landlady?".

OP: She's not getting back to you because a) she probably has better things to do and b) she's quietly seeing how it unfolds. Evicting someone involves a lot of energy and paperwork and it's an absolute pain in the butt for a landlord. I bet my marbles she won't renew your lease comes July, and she'll let you know last minute. If she lets you now now by email you can get confrontational, get a lawyer or "get hold of some friends" and god knows what. I'm sure this lady is a tad afraid of you because the line of work you are in the sort of people you "may know" (like crime elements etc..), so she's avoiding confontation. If I were you I would start looking for a new place in May because I bet my marbles she's not renewing the lease.

That's why I wouldn't have said anything either and just got on with things. If she's moved on to other stuff as Ana says, all you've done is bump it back to the front - there's nothing heinously wrong with the email but if I was going to send it it would have been in May/June, not now.

I’d pull the plug myself around may / June, find a new place in advance and therefore stay in control of this myself. This way you avoid the potential dreaded “last minute” refusal of renewal as Ana said. You won’t be at her mercy.

If I were in this situation I'd rent a hotel and hope to keep my flat that way. I'd not want anyone escorting from my property, even one punter a month is too many in my view. And the bed in the lounge is a bit of a giveaway when considering what the neighbours have told her.

It's different here in the UK because we have a clause in agreements about "immoral purposes", but I think you should just stop working there if possible. It ain't worth the stress.

I really don’t see the point in that when the horse has already bolted. I don’t think the OP needs to be spending out extra money. Nor do I think she particularly wants to continue living there so I don’t see what she has to gain by stopping working.
I'm glad I got all the Cynthia Payne books before the prices rocked to sky high.

Yeah, I am paying £2500 a month to live and work here. If I start booking hotels and increasing my overheads, I will make very little profit and not meet my targets for my investments. Minimum hotel room per night would be about £120. Sydney is very expensive. I am just going to continue working, no point stopping now  :'(

Hi hope you’re keeping well and healthy given the current situation!
I’m guessing she’s not made any decision yet? I’d be surprised if she did as her rent would’ve dried up!

Thanks, yes I am ok, haven't been working this past month cause of COVid19. Hope everyone is ok too. No she didn't say anything, just chased me up for rent this month which I paid 3 days late. My bicycle was stolen last night  :FF, I suspect it's one of the neighbours. I suspect that because they slashed another neighbour's car tyres for parking in their precious spot. They stole my bike not to use it/sell, most likely just dumped it somewhere to piss me off.

They are just malicious for no reason, I don't understand. Like they live in a $16 million mansion , drive lamborghinis and ferraris, yet they have time for all this nonsense and time to monitor their 10 cameras. If I was that rich, my neighbours wouldn't even see me lol, I'd be busy enjoying my life. Anyway, I can't wait to move out in July. The current state of our world plus this issue with neighbours has caused me to do a lot of necessary reflection. Also, thank you to Saafe and all you lovely women for your advice and support.
