I just started working with an agency in the US and I'm totally green to this. I feel like I'm being kept in the dark too much. I applied to many agencies and this was the first to reply but now I have several problems with them. 1) I've worked three days and STILL don't know what my split is 2) they flew me across the country and now I'm stuck in a hotel and don't know anyone here 3)they send a girl everyday to collect all the money I've made, when am I going to get my cut because I am broke. 4) they send me a client every thirty minutes 5)they expect me to negotiate once the client gets there instead of having a flat fee. Fortunately I received an email from another agency who has a much better pay structure as well as a website and good reviews on theeroticreview.com. Should I leave this other agency and how do I ask for my money? Remember I'm new so if I've been being an idiot, please be gentle with your responses.
Hi Christion and welcome to SAAFE
Unfortunately, it sounds like you've been had - the usual arrangement is for you to collect your fee from the client and then pay the agency cut into their bank account (although I understand that some places to send others round to collect commission, but they have NO reason to be taking your money as well). I realise that what is normal in the US may be different to the UK agency-wise, but it is pure exploitation to isolate you from your own surroundings and then coop you up in a hotel room like a battery chicken, and send one client after another.
I have heard from others that negotiating happens more in America because of the illegality of prostitution - it doesn't happen here as a general rule but there are posts scattered about on here about ladies having a 'basic' fee which pays for them to turn up and nothing else, then everything else is extra but a cient should surely still have some idea of how much he is paying? This agency are just making you do their dirty work for them - you are being told to extract as money as possible from each client presumably - where are the agency if someone turns nasty?
I would phone them and ask straight out when you are going to be paid - I cannot imagine that this is acceptable agency practive anywhere. You need to get away from them, and I'm sorry to say if it was clear that getting my money was going to be difficult I would go anyway and join the new place, provided they are a responsible operation (TER reviews are a good sign) and you wouldn't just be jumping from the frying pan into the fire.
I'm sure some agency/US folks will be along to plug the gaps but if you are really that green, you shouldn't be working yet - please read through the
main site and have a look through the forum for more information that will help you. And let us know how you get on.
