I have a question please. Are you familiar with the escort directories out there? Which ones would you recommend and which ones would you avoid? I've been sifting through loads and after awhile they all look the same to me. I am a bit lost. Apart from Captain69, I'm not sure which ones to approach. Please help!

I find that the best way to find places to advertise is to think like your target client: What would he do? Probably go to Google and put "[myarea] independent escort", plus maybe other keywords that might apply to you ("mature", "student", "blonde" etc etc). Whichever sites pop up first on Google are probably the ones he's going to go look at (minus the annoyingly over-SEO-ed agency and parlour sites) so consider registering on those ones.

Another thing to do is look at other established escorts' websites and see which banners they've put on their homepage. I try to get rid of banners if, after about 3 months, I've noticed very little traffic coming to my site from those shared links.

This is a difficult question - I have been trying to figure this out for some time now. There are two factors to consider, the amount of potential traffic and also the SEO value which will be passed to your site.

Websites such as punterlink, ukadultzone and girlsdirectory all have good traffic and seem to provide good SEO value.

Alba, it's only a guess from your nick, but if you are in Scotland you could also try Alba Ladies and Escort Scotland too. I don't believe you need a website for either, although they are pay sites (I think) - you will find that most of the free ones require a reciprocal link, so you do need your own site to list there. The exception is Adultwork which is free-ish; if you do a search on here there are enough threads about it to make your brain hurt (well mine, anyway).
