my question is if we get a lot more work whilst on tour how comes we work these places as a tour, wouldn't it be great to live there? What is it about being on tour that makes it busy??
I hate when I write a reply, then my damn internet connection goes out and then I have to rewrite the same thing
Anyhow, fuck yeah! If I tour a place and it turns out great, I'll consider moving there. But it has to be great from all advertisements. I made the mistake of moving somewhere where initially; I had gotten what I thought to be...lots of bookings. Had I paid attention and analyzed more, I would have seen that (my current town) most bookings come from either conventions, or from low-paying massage work.
Last year, I did well in Boston...but it was just too far from my current location to move there, plus...there was still a big security scare after a series of robbings, and I'd went only 3-4 months after it happened. I need to go again to see if things have changed, because I believe I would have made a KILLING honey. But they were all too scared because I was in a hotel (e.g., security/vice).
Otherwise, being new and limited time does get people to hurry up and book instead of just taking their sweet ass time. Many times guys will say to me, "I wanted to get you before you leave, I know you wont be sticking around town long". But, part of me is slightly worried about moving to a great tour city. Will business not be as good? But then, I have to remind myself that nobody is sulking about with a hook looking to 'pull me off stage'.
Shit, I have to do something. Business here sucks, and even when its good...doesn't pay much. So what have I got left to do? Sit here making minimum wage or get up of my ASS and move somewhere thats a more metropolitan city, that pays more, and has a wealthier client base.
How genious!
