New escort, condom breakage
« on: 11 April 2013, 05:53:56 pm »
I have been escorting for about a month.  Last night I had a condom break with a customer.  He ejaculated inside me and I didn't realize that it had broken until I got off of him after we were done.

I guess in addition to wondering what my risks are, which I know no one can really tell me for sure, I am wondering:

(a) exactly what I should do to try and monitor for STDs and do any possible retroactive protection (I am on birth control so I think pregnancy is a low risk and don't need Plan B); should I go to a clinic today or is it done already and therefore pointless?  Of course I'll need to go get tested but I think I have to wait for that.

(b) more importantly, how common do you think this is?  I always thought condoms were pretty safe but this is early in my career for a breakage and actually I had one break in my personal life not too long ago.  Is it a problem with me -- like, is there not enough lubrication?  Do I put it on wrong?  I think this time I forgot to pinch it so there was air at the top (it was a "Trojan Enz" condom).  Could that have created this problem?  I think I heard it snap and didn't know that it had broken, I just thought the plastic was getting caught on my skin.  Also, we had gone through multiple positions and when it broke is when I was on top of him (or, I think, right when I was letting him penetrate me when I was getting on top).

In addition I would like to ask whether I was gullible to believe that the client didn't realize it had broken.  Can't men tell the difference?  Also, when I first realized it might be broken it was because I saw the semen all gathered at the base/opening to the condom where it was still around his shaft, but I didn't know if sometimes that happens even if the condom stays intact?  Sorry, I'm really new at this.  So then I said to him, look at it, don't you think it's broken?  And he said, oh is it broken, I dunno, oh hmm I guess it is.  Do you think that's a bunch of crap and he really did know?

Anyway, any advice you can give me would be very helpful.

Regarding proper condom usage, definitely be sure to put them on properly without any air trapped inside. And be sure to use the correct size (have a whole range, and don't be afraid to give up on an ill-fitting condom and change it for a bigger or smaller one - better to be safe than sorry, and you'll soon be able to eyeball the size required correctly anyway :) ).

I did learn the hard way that proper application of lube is necessary with condoms. It's just much safer. I actually had a client the other day say, "Oh, you don't need any of that" when I popped a bit of lube on the condom but I replied that it's just for the latex (although, TBH, a bit of oral from a client does not generally cause a woman to experience gushing natural lubrication!) and he was fine about it. No decent client wants the condom to tear. I have heard of girls applying lube internally before the start of a booking, but have never quite figured out how they disguise the taste if the client wants to do RO? (Did once read a review where the client was delighted that the escort's vagina tasted of strawberries, though, so perhaps there's nothing to worry about!)

Regarding the issue of whether your client knew the condom had broken... who can say? It's quite likely that he did notice a change in his sensation, but he may honestly have been so naive re. condoms that he didn't know what had happened. A person who is not a sex worker is much less likely to have our relatively in-depth knowledge + experience of contraceptive use, although I do think a wise client ought to educate himself and not wait until something goes wrong to learn about how to use condoms as safely as possible.

But that's pretty much irrelevant to this situation. If your client definitely didn't sabotage the condom (e.g. you were the only person to handle it from start to finish), then he's probably not a bad client - just either naive, or a bit silly if he did know what had happened and still didn't say anything.

Oh - I think extended sex and multiple position changes can definitely require a reapplication of lube. It can be a bit awkward, when the porny stereotype is that all women want to be hammered at for yonks, but it's why I'm being extremely genuine and honest when a client finishes 'quickly' (e.g. not going on for ages) and I say that I much prefer to have sex more than once than to have the same sex go on for hours! The latter is much more comfortable, especially when the required use of condoms means also using enough lube to avoid breakage of the condom and/or a sore foofoo. :P

This has happened to me twice within the last 3 weeks. I've been escorting since November and it hadn't happened prior to these times. I think lubrication was the main problem on these occasions from switching positions so just make sure you've got plenty of lube to hand.

Also I tend not to use durex as I've heard they tend to break. My first breakage was with durex so I switched to a different brand. Second breakage my client brought some durex dotted condoms he wanted to try. So from now on durex are a no go for me!

DId you check the dates on his condoms?  Sometimes men keep them around for years and the latex degrades and will be prone to splitting.  Its one reason I always advise women to never use a clients condoms but to have a large range of different ones so he will be happy using yours.  I have different sizes, dotted, ribbed, different flavours, different makes, not latex so there is never an excuse for a client to need me to use his.
It could also be the wrong size.  I have been escorting for four years and have (touch wood) never had a condom tear or rip on me.  I actually got the nurse at the gum clinic to show me how to put them on properly (you will be amazed how many owmen put them on wrong) and also which sizes to use.  The nurses are happy to do this and spend time with you until you get is right.  It sounds silly but I was doing it wrong before I did this job but never realised.
I felt a bit foolish asking but it really was worth it to me.  Now I can just look at a cock and know the exact size I need.
Again many people do not know what size to use hence splitting.

We are not taught it and we all have to try and figure it out ourselves so sometimes we are bound to be wrong so asking at the clinic is actually a good idea
Truth is far more important than what one wants to hear. With truth there is no us and them or colour or religion there is just fact

Lubricant, application and technique are key here. Always make sure theres and empty space at the end. Some guys think the condom should be pulled tight and/or will sort of bounce into you replicating something they've either done when not using a condom, or in a porn film. This puts extra stress on the condom, and causes a lot of friction which can be too much even for the most lubricated.

The only times a condom has broken with me has been in situations where the client has pulled the condom back, and is doing the bouncing-porn-star thing. Whether or not this has been intentional, or simply ignorance I cannot tell(I think it was on purpose in one case) but I keep my eye on the ball each and every time since then.

Regards STis all you can do is make sure you stick to condoms 100% of the time, go for a check up this week then again in 3 months time.

Exactly the same happened to me the other week, regular client and I used a Mates Skyns (latex-free) one and it split when using from behind. I reckon it was a lubricant related issue, I had already been with his friend for half an hour and had stupidly forgotten my lube  :FF

All the above posters have put what I'd say, so just get a check out at the clinic when you can. hugs.

What they said. The condom use guidelines tend to be based on research looking at their use for anal sex, but one is changing the condom if the sex lasts longer than 20-30 minutes. Applying more lube would definitely be a good idea.

And if you do OW, either change condoms before intercourse or don't use lipstick / other oil-based lip product.

I know this isn't a laughing matter but, you made me chuckle Emily.

I have had 2 breakage's in my life, once about 4 years ago with a big turkish man who pinned me down after I said we have ot stop and carried on. Luckily I was working with another girl and she came to my assistance, no cum inside me but being the first time it had happened plus the fact he got voilent with me scared the shit out of me. The girl I was with Cut open a lemon and shoved it up my pussy, she said it would kill anything he may have left behind. How dangerous that was at the time I have no idea, but I was to upset I had no idea. I was taken straight to the hospital for the morning after pill because I wasn't on any other contraceptive (I am now)

The second time it happened to me was about a month ago and this was due to the whole pulling int he condom back porn star thing spoken about by Strawberry. He put it near me and before it got "in" it tore, so up I jump clean myself up and get downt he clinic, it didn't go in but I had to make sure nothing got in. I'm of course fine, but the first time I had this happen to me was frightening.

Both times this has happened to me I have been using Durex, which I still use, but have just brought myself a box of Mates after opening up a discussion about what other ladies use. I would highly recommened using added lubricant too, its protects the condom therefore protects you.

Get yourself checked out, weather of not he knew what had happened doesn't matter now, its done.  Just concentrate on looking after you, go get tested and take it from there.

Thank you all so much for the replies, the information is invaluable.

Has anyone ever heard of putting lube on the inside of the condom too, to enhance the sensation for the client?  (I'm concerned with that in that it would help him finish faster.)  It's not necessary, and may even be difficult to do while remaining sanitary, but I was just wondering.

Thanks so much to the escorts who admit that this happened to them also -- makes me feel not so alone and like I'm going to fail at this.  Also, asking at the clinic is a great idea.

Could someone please elaborate on the pulling the condom/bouncing thing?  How and/or why is it done in porn?  I don't think I've ever seen this.  Do you just mean hard thrusting?

I'll try. Might not be from porn, I don't watch very much no need to but I assumed it might be something influenced by it!

Bloke kneeling thrusting in very quickly then coming completely out so his penis is totally out of the the body, then is shoved fully back in again, with full force of the body behind it and then quickly withdrawn out again. It's almost as if he's 'bouncing' back out off your hips. I don't know about other ladies but I find this doesn't allow the entrance to be eased open each time, and result is it causes extra friction which pulls the condom tight over the head so there's no spare loose bit(can also catch on the outer skin too).

Also results in fanny farts! lol! I don't let guys do this because it is a splitting risk, plus it hurts and in the past when they have not wanted to top, tilting your pelvic at the wrong moment means they hit your fanny bone full force and hurt their cock.
