New civvie job fail
« on: 06 June 2018, 12:25:14 pm »
Sooooo I haven't had a civvie job for 6 months now.  I Thought I best get a 3 day a week job so the cover story I tell me family isn't complete bull and I have a little money to survive on if its a quiet week plus I'm worried the longer I don't work for the harder it will be to return and I maybe getting thick by not engaging my brain in something!

First day yesterday, it was horrible, the first 2 hours felt like a lifetime, I hate having a boss after being my own for a long time and being confined to one space.

I woke up today with so much dread and once the idea came that I could just not go, there was no turning back!

Que massive anxiety that Ive failed.

Before I found escorting I tried SO many careers, none of which lasted past 6 months. I guess i really struggle with the fact we all have to work for the rest of our lives.  I'm good at escorting and enjoy it but all the lies are difficult and how sustainable actually  is it?

Can't y ou just find and stick to a very convincing cover story and leave it at that.

Telling only a few choice friends here and there the truth.

Apart from escorting what else would you like to do?
There must be something you like rather than dread working.

The problem with a 3 day a week kind of job is that it’s most likely to be a crappy mind numbing job. But I get it’s nice to have a steady income. I’m thinking of volunteering when my youngest starts school in September. Get some good experience without the pressure and can put it on my cv if I stop this work. It means you can work in something you’re interested in at least, if you can afford it, and can tell people you get paid rather than volunteer

If you enjoy this job and make enough money from it, why waste time (almost half your week?!) on a job you do not like? If you are concerned about returning to work at some point, why not use this time to further your skills / knowledge with things that interest you and aren't quite as taxing as a PT job? An open university course or evening college course is an idea? Or some voluntary work?

My advice would be:

-Find yourself a good cover story
-Save some money for future investment or slow weeks
-Start a PT course either for leisure or academic which will keep your brain from turning to sludge and will allow you to interact with people who aren't chewing on your nipples.

What do you enjoy about escorting?
Maybe use the money you make from escorting to create work that gives you the same feeling.
There's more than one way to make serious money you just got to be passionate and believe in it.

Most people don't want to lie to their families for years unless they have serious vision.

The other option is to just be open (that's what I do and it comes with it's own problems lol)

It was funny the way you phrased it, VG, it made me laugh but I don't necessarily agree.
Your brain doesn't have to turn into sludge with sex work. You can make it as boring and not stimulating or as creative as you wish.
You can for example learn a lot about IT stuff when making and improving you own website,
you can learn about SEO and marketing, you can learn how to blog and improve writing,
you can learn about law and GDPR and legalities of sex work,
you can learn how to make engaging graphics,
you can learn about infinite amount of interesting topics that you can then write about (in a way that is interesting and engaging, which is another separate skill)....
To name a few!
I was bored and uninspired in the past. Now my brain is on overdrive.
You can make sex work as fun and creative as you want to without enrolling on pottery courses :)

Let me just add that you can also learn about creating and editing videos,
you can learn photoshop or any other program,
you can learn about money, taxes and how to manage finances,
you can learn about psychology - yours and people you come across,
you can learn how to give great customer service...
AND SO ON...!

And these are all transferable skills :)

And let's not forget that if you have to do some work on your incall place you can learn a great deal about DIY.
And if you're doing any form of massage - WOW, here's a literally infinite amount of skills to gain, anatomy and other stuff to learn.

Okay, I'm done  :)

... but I also have to mention that while learning all this stuff, you can come up with another business idea and start something else on the side.
Which can open your horizons in other unexpected ways  :D

I think you may have taken my expression in a wrong way! I was not implying that by carrying out sex work then you don't keep the your mind active, that was the concern of the OP, so I was just connecting my suggestion to her concern.

I have a degree in marketing and I am grateful that I can use it on a daily basis, despite what my mother thinks of my "wasted education"  ;D

Hey VG, sorry for late reply and for misreading your post! Yes, it was OP's concern, lazy reading on my part!

(...) I'm worried the longer I don't work for the harder it will be to return and I maybe getting thick by not engaging my brain in something!

My previous posts were an ode to self-employment. I might be turning into an annoying, overly enthusiastic marketer  ;D
