My push to finally go independent!
« on: 01 December 2024, 12:31:09 pm »
Hi Everyone.
I've just had a really eye opening experience at the brothel I was working in.
To summarise I overhead my receptionist on the phone with a customer discussing a watch service.
Her exact words were I won't be snagging or sucking...I'm not a prossie!
was so upset but it's now turned to anger. This lady has been quite happy to make her wages and take tips from me.i thoight she respected me.
I've been totally naive haven't i?

I've just noticed that my spell check changed a word there but I think you get the idea.
It's odd that this has bothered me so much. I don't really care what customers opinions are but I thought my receptionist would have a better opinion and attitude. I guess I'm just asking if I'm justified to be angry or am I just being over sensitive?

I understand why she said it. But she could of put it better. She could of just said " I won't interact with you in the booking". Some people are just straight talking. She might not of meant it to be disrespectful. If everything else is good there. If your busy and get along with everyone I would not leave just over that. Is it the word prossie that upset you or more tone of voice she used?

I would go to her and straight ask her: “ so how does making a living from us -prossies- feels like? It technically makes you a pimp and a criminal, so is being a pimp a much better position in that moral high horse you’re riding? Sorry I’m asking for a friend

See what she says.

It's quite possible she(the receptionist) may of worked herself in the past and wants to make it clear that not the case anymore.
Obviously she could confront her directly if she is planning to leave and make it clear what her reasons are.
But if she doesn't want to leave its probably not worth making it into a big drama and having a bad atmosphere when they work together.
It depends if she wants to carry on working there or not.

It's difficult to know what the problem is without hearing the tone she used; I can't see anything wrong with what she said (presumably to a boundary pushing punter who was being a pain in the arse on the phone and trying to push her into services she doesn't offer)?

What specifically is it you're objecting to? Not that it matters - you can go independent any time you like (and keep working at the brothel too if you want to) :)

It was definitely the tone she used..almost sneering.
Ive ignored other things like hwr refusing to use our cups or plates and not using anything from the fridge or putting stuff in it.
I just think msybe its the final straw for me and i resent tipping her now. .

I know she refuses to use our cutlery or cups or the communal fridge but I just laughed that off.
I know it's my issue but I think I've just lost all respect, which works both ways.
She has never worked.

Like Amy said above "it depends on the tone" (context is everything, true), had she said that in a normal tone just to get rid of the guy I wouldn't be bothered, but sounds like being a pimp is a more "honorable" job in her eyes.

If she is not the owner of the brothel. Could you say something to them? Say you don't want to work shifts with her. How do the other women who work there feel about her?

It does depend on her relationship with the owner of said brothel if they are close friends or family members they probably won't do anything. But if you have noticed her implying you are "dirty".  Then others probably have too. They might just sack her if they think your going to leave because of her shitty attitude. Especially if others have also complained about her.

You could just also just leave and work in a different brothel(if there are others nearby) or go independent. Or both. I like to work for various parlours and agencies around  the country. But I don't have any other commitments so that's easy for me.

I think you are going to work to earn money. If she does a good job at getting the punters in, then honestly, I wouldn't worry about it.
Take a little smug satisfaction that SHE is the one who is committing a crime by working as a pimp.

As for the cups and cutlery - some people are weird germ-a-phobes. it's her problem and she is inconvenienced.

If she is negatively t affecting the punters, then make a complaint to get rid of her. I find it hard to believe someone with such a shitttie attitude toward sex work would be any good on the phone/ or at greeting the clients.

I remember this bothering me once when a receptionist used to keep her cup outside of the kitchen where the rest were kept. I also remember the owners daughter who used to do receptionist work proudly saying she could never do what we do ‘has to much respect for herself’ a punter had asked if he could have a service from her and she came out with that.

As much as all that pissed me off just had to take it on the chin cause when it comes to being blunt i’m just as bad my self for saying what I think.

I think the whole cup thing was her setting her dominance in the work place and belittling you, would definitely recommend trying another place or try being independent x

Reading this, how someone who is earning money from this industry and yet still looks down on us workers, makes me realise this is why I don’t tell anyone!

Loras advice above is good I think x

I worked for an agency for years, and wish I'd gone independent sooner. My agency was always happy to talk crap about us girls, despite making money from us. No thanks.
