First time booking hotel/finding flat for work, advice needed!
« on: 25 November 2015, 07:18:28 pm »
Hello all!

After having a break from working in parlours I am considering going indie and renting a flat/hotel room in London. I've done the odd indie job before but that was always done as an outcall and with people I had seen before in parlours.

My questions are as follows; how do you go about finding a flat to rent for say a day a week? and have you any advice for working in a flat on your own? The thing that has put me off going indie is that I am admittedly quite scared of not being in a parlour environment, so any advice would be received gratefully!

Thank you for reading :)

Hi Penny,

In terms of finding a flat, there are lots advertised here and also on places like Adultwork. I used to work in a parlour too so I know what you mean about the fear of transitioning to working by yourself. If  you screen your clients well, listening to your intuition, you will minimise the risk of anything unpleasant happening. I feel more comfortable in hotels because it's a public space so (in my opinion) the likelihood of anyone doing something in a cctv covered area is less than if you worked in an apartment. Always listen to your instincts and if you don't like the sound of someone for whatever reason, think twice. Having said all that, most men are lovely and I've personally never had a scary experience, touch wood. The golden rule is listen to your instincts! Have a read of the main SAAFE site as it has heaps of great screening advice xx

Hi Penny, if you rent a private flat then you will need  to pay a deposit and have a reference or two to secure it and then register the bills on top.  Just like any rental. Obviously discretion then is key. If you go to hotels then you will have to move about or get noticed. The thread touring will help.
There is no comparison to working for yourself, you need to think its a business, parlours take a share of your money, you can be your own boss. Hope i helped.
