Loyalty schemes
« on: 16 July 2010, 08:30:51 pm »
As ideas of mine go this one might be a little far fetched. Came up with the idea to reward repeat custom. Say if I see you 5 times get an extra 30 minutes free(this is just an example). Could be tricky monitoring it...possibly by saving numbers in phone as client name (1).

I came up with this idea after seeing that a few of you ladies give discounts for the armed services. Soooooo what do you think?

I personally dont do a reward scheme. I do offer a ?10 discount with a valid servicemans ID card or a ?30 with an OSM ( afghanistan) or an Assignment order again for Afghanistan with a valid ID card. I do this purely as I was once in the services myself and still like to feel I am doing my bit.

Instead of having a set rewards scheme now and then my most regular clients will get a discount but I always make it clear that it is a one off just because I am feeling generous. That way they do not come to expect it all the time.

I also offer a Forces Discount on production of ID (and Danielle, if you could PM me some more information about the specfic Afghanistan ones I would be very grateful, since I didn't know about them :)), but I don't do it to drum up extra business, I do it partly to try and support the people who have fought and are still fighting for our country in about the only way I can, and also because I am ashamed that at least some of my tax money is being spent to send troops to other people's pointless wars, especially without proper kit or supplies. OK, vent over  ;).

I think the type of loyalty scheme you describe is more common in parlours where punters visit often - I don't have many regulars who visit more than once a month or six weeks and it would be hard (although not impossible) to keep track of. My longer standing regs tend to get things like extra time rather than an actual cheaper rate. I do stretch the Forces discount to some of my older gents too, as I have some who I know were servicemen for years.

Why not give it a try if you're comfortable with it? My concern would be that all the 'free' ones would come around at once - I had a go at bartering free time for jobs done when I first moved house and needed help with electrics and whatnot; it seemed like a good idea but I soon learned that working for nothing is not a good feeling and can make you feel very resentful. Let us know how it goes!

From growing up in a military town and having many friends and family in the forces. I am so pleased to see so many ladies offering their support.

I think I am going to give it ago in the terms of extra time or free extras for repeat custom. Maybe I could issue cards like starbucks (starfucks!?) I am of course joking about that one!

Certainly worth an experiment and I'll keep you posted!

one day every month I do a special offer for 1 hour for 90 quid. I advertise it in advance and get about 12 bookings that day. Works me to the bone but its a good way to make a lot of money in one day. I do have to deal with annoying emails from guys trying to get the special offer for another day though but just be really strict on your advert saying it is absolutely not for any other days apart from the specified date.

I think it would be ok to keep track of if you make them party responsible for it. Tell them that the loyalty scheme is only available if they ask for it, and they have to mention it each time they want a booking to count. You could perhaps give them a code, which would be discreet enough to store somewhere. You'd need to make it clear that if they lose it or forgot to mention it one time, that's tough luck.

That is a really good idea Anika, I had been toying with the loyalty scheme idea, but felt it was a lot of hassle keeping tabs especially making sure I keep straight when they have had their 'frequent f**ker'rewards. I also would shy away from completely free bookings and was thinking along the lines of extra time added to the next booking. However I give regulars, who don't try it on, extra time when I feel like it anyway.
It would have just been a way of regulating it and an advertising gimmick.
