Bleeding after sex?
« on: 09 March 2012, 12:14:26 pm »
So this happened to me for the first time EVER yesterday. Anyway it freaked me out, going to GUM clinic on Monday. Is this relatively normal? It's only happened once so I'm hoping it's just a one off, but since I've been feeling really strange and weak. I hope I don't have something :(

Hi there.

I'm no medical expert, but you need to get this checked out as a matter of urgency.  Sometimes (and I stress sometimes) it can be a sign of an eroded cervix, or it could be a multitude of other things, most of which are easily treatable.

If you have a Mirena or other coil, sometimes if the strings are a little long, they can cause minute scratching on the inside of your vagina, which after all, is a very sensitive place.

Let us know how you get on, hun.

argh  :-\ I'm on the pill and apparently such contraception can cause that. God I hope not!! I'm more concerned because since I've been feeling soo strange. Literally slept for about 17 hours or something ridiculous afterwards :o Apparently it can be a sign of chlamydia as well, but fingers crossed it isn't! I'm taking a day off today but have to work the weekend, but will just avoid any direct contact 'downstairs'. Plus I can see if I bleed again. Man, so annoying

Glad that you're getting it checked out on Monday  :)

They will probably want to give you a smear test, which is usually done at the midway point of your cycle and booked in for that time. However, if that would be around now for you it's worth calling them to ask if it can be done while you are there xx
