London (and national) Riots
« on: 09 August 2011, 12:04:56 pm »
I'm supposed to be going into central London on Friday for incall appointments, and Nottingham for a weekend tour...I'm not sure if I should go ahead! Travelling to destinations might be difficult, plus it might be unsafe...Girls, how are the riots affecting you?

A friend said that Twitter was a better and more accurate source of news reports, updates, status. Right now they seem to be planning to revisit everywhere they've already been. Cross your fingers that it will be but a memory by Friday - by sooner, ideally. I have decided (and posted) that I am not taking any evening bookings until this garbage is sorted. But, I just like to avoid crazies to the best of my urban-living ability.

I know some women are being affected more--both personally and professionally.

I suppose playing it by ear is the best thing...I hate making 50/50 plans but I guess at times like this, what can ya do?

Yeah, hopefully it'll all be over by the end of the week, but if there's still trouble where you want to go then there's no point going. Punters are going to be just as concerned about going out as you are.

It's a long shot, but there's rain forecast for London from tomorrow onwards - if it's anything like last Thursday that'll settle down at least some of it. I left on Saturday evening before it all started but a friend who lives near the Angel tells me it's not as bad there at least as some of the news reports suggest. I don't know how central you mean though.

As far as Nottingham goes I haven't got a clue, but provided you're in a city centre hotel I wouldn't worry too much - the stuff in other cities seems to have been pretty aimless and petered out quickly. As Anika says, if you're worried just cancel  :).

I have an incall on thursday, where I live currently has a warning telling people to stay away from certain parts of the area.
Wondering about safety stuff and if I should advise my client NOT to wear a suit.  :-\

It's pretty quiet out there - during the daytime today, at least. I think non-rioters are mostly staying home, which might include a lot of potential clients?

I would honestly call someone mad if they went roaming London at night this week looking for a shag, since they're more likely to get a brick chucked at their head at the moment.

Twitter is definitely the best place for news. Check out Twitter.com/Riotcleanup and this moderately terrifying map of incidents.

There is a lot of effort being made to sort things out, but it may take a little time.

But, I just like to avoid crazies to the best of my urban-living ability.

I should have this printed and laminated cos it's my motto! With work, particularly, I think it does well to err on the side of super-caution. :)

I'm in London and did a job last night. I had to go a long route round to avoid the troubled hot spots and coming back was even worse so got a cab. He knew all the safest ways to get me home. But tonight I canceled my booking as I count myself lucky getting home in one piece last night, I'm not going to tempt fate twice.
I'm hoping by the weekend it will be calmer.

Just play it by ear for now if you can. I think Nottingham will be fine.

Heard on the news tonight of some rioting in Nottingham already,  I think it'll be ok by the weekend so I'll go there as planned. I'll be giving London a miss this week though.

I only work one day per week doing incalls which is Friday and I'm city centre based and finish between 5 and 6pm so no problem there  ;)

The violent disorder affecting Liverpool the last 2 nights has been 5 - 10 minutes away from where I live so pretty scary stuff  :(

I'm based in Woolwich/Greenwich, and havent had any problems yet. It has been very quiet though, because people have been reluctant to travel during the riots. Hopefully, it'll pick up next week ;D
