Location....city centre or outskirts?
« on: 05 January 2013, 11:21:13 pm »
Realising that being outcall only wasn't really keeping the wolves from the door, I recently started to offer incalls once a week.

Even though I am based in a major city, I found this to be a bit hit and miss. The first week was great, but all hotel incall days after that only just about covered the room booking costs. I'm thinking that consistency might even things out a bit, so I thought it might be worthwhile looking at a cheapish short term rental as I'd save a fortune in hotel costs and I could be a lot more flexible.

However, Manchester isn't exactly short of available working ladies these days so it would be worthwhile getting the location right. I would have assumed the city centre would attract more footfall, but would it be cannier to look at the outskirts and try and avoid a lot of the competition? Have any other ladies working in quite saturated areas tried this?

Manchester and the surrounding towns all have a fairly well established 'massage parlour' scene which I think affects business and the money you can charge. I'm surprised to hear that you're spending a lot on Hotels though because you can usually get a reasonable room for quite a good price in the City Centre if you book in advance.

Lol, I've just realised I dont actually have any helpful advice! I will be interested to see what other people have to say though.

You've hit the nail on the head...a busy parlour scene can have a big impact on independent escorts. I can easily get a decent 4* hotel room for about 50 quid, but if you only get a single one hour booking, it hardly seems worth it. You always have to expect a number of quiet days but I had quite a long run of them. Just curious to see if ladies with more experience knew whether picking the right area made a difference.

I will only work in Manchester if I have another reason to go ie Christmas market or desperation to eat in the Indian restaurant on Deansgate. Not if I'm skint.

Used to be good but like Edinburgh it's not good like it was.

I'm glad I got all the Cynthia Payne books before the prices rocked to sky high.

I am in Manchester here is my two pence worth lol

At the min i am doing outcalls/  working from hotels but have worked manchester on and off for a v long time

You have hit the nail on the head consistancy is the key to be being busy that is why parlours are so busy the phones are being answered all the time and are always available to see clients WHEN THEY WANT so if you are a independent it is better to have a base and regular days/times to work so the clients know a pattern to when you work .

If you dont have any kind of pattern going on you will loose regular clients as if they keep ringing and you arent reliable ( available when they want ) they will move on to the next girl ( i have lost loads through this  ) .

Manchester city centre is good for people working in town or bussiness men staying in city centre hotels but can be a nightmare for
clients to drive in and park up . ( i had a client drive from c/h into the centre before christmas at tea time  it took him a hour and it is only a five min drive so he was running out of spare time  )

I have always had my flats etc ( and will again at the end of the month) outside the city centre  around the main motorway junctions ie the closest place to m62/m60/m66/m55/m61 as you maximise your potential clients who are driving who can slip off the motorway park up and get back on  again with the minimum of fuss plus are cheaper to rent and have free parking near by .
( think where the busy parlous are ? the parlours in the centre are busier at nightime ( more freedom of movement and guys on a nightout etc )

Every area is different Manchester is in the middle of the country and you will pick up clients who will stop off when driving to their destination eg london to scotland  /wales to hull etc if near a junction  plus it will give you a wider catchment area ie burnley blackburn halifax preston leeds warrington ect all areas with a 40 min drive  along the motorway  ( the sport used to be good to advertise for the travelling men )

And as for charging ..............if you dont ask you dont get dont forget lots of parlours charge for a vanila service extras are extra so will bump it up to the same price as a indie in some places and maybe more in others .........also a client will pay more not to be rushed and feel more special  !

Sorry if that was long winded but hope it helps

Yes - I don't personally know anything helpful about Manchester, but I'm based in London and am therefore also surrounded by a million brothels/flats/parlours at all times (some of them so popular/'famous' that they are fully booked every day), but also by a million other indies. So in a busy city there is clearly a market for a wide variety of services and if the existence of parlours made indies redundant then, well, I would have had to stop working before I even began. :)

If you're going to be in the City Centre, I'd guess that you want to be within 5-15 mins walking distance of a LOT of offices and available during daytime hours that would suit working clients (11am-8pm - tricky with hotels, I know). Also, as said above, there's no point being there during xmas hols etc when there's nothing but tourists and shoppers. And consistency is absolutely key - same hours, same days each week. And then just be your reliable and enthusiastic self so that the clients who might prefer an indie to a parlour because of the little extra special touches we are able to provide (making it feel very personal and relaxed, like a date/GFE etc) will want to come to you.

If parlours are charging extras etc then you shouldn't need to cut your rates. There will always be clients who want the full, affectionate, friendly indie experience and once they know they can visit you discreetly and that you won't let them down, they'll call you regularly.
