Lighting for pictures and videos
« on: 14 July 2020, 05:48:37 pm »
For those that spend a bit more time on content how do you deal with lighting? Do you just use natural light and if so how do you stop glare or shadows? Or do you use professional lighting like soft boxes or led lights? If you use professional lighting is it extremely lightweight or heavy? Would it be portable by car but not by public transport?

I have tried box lights but they were too cumbersome, what has been very good are the halo lights I bought for web cam sessions. Although I don't transport them much they are telescopic and light, I have carried them very short distances in a normal shopping bag but would look at packing into some sort of case or even with shoot clothing into a case for anything further.

Thanks will have a look at those. Just trying to think of ways to make better quality clips incase I have to rely more on that than escorting.

I use a ring light too and I makes SUCH a difference. It has a few colour options, brightness levels and a built in stand for your phone in the centre, along with a bluetooth control which links with your phone to take pictures and videos without faffing about touching the phone.

Cost only £30 or so from amazon and worth every penny.

Ah that's good that there's a control. I bought a control once as jumping into position in 10 seconds is difficult enough, never mind when your a fat asthmatic. But ended up it only worked for pictures not for videos so was a bit of a waste.
