Hey, so I'm starting as an escort this week, but I'm unsure as to when to register as a self employed escort on HMRC... When it says to keep a note of all income and outgoings, does that mean on a document, or is there a weekly form I have to fill in? And do I even have to note when I've spent money on a sandwich or something, or is it only on outgoings related to the job? I know these sound like silly questions, but i've looked on all the topics and website and im still lost. I also am starting a part time phone job after xmas, will that confuse things? If someone could give me a bulletpoint list of when to tell to the tax office, what income and expendature to tell them etc Id be very greatful... and I'm too skint at the minute to afford any kind of accountant so that is not an option.

Thankyou
X

If you are definite about doing this you need to register with them asap. If you take on an accountant their fees probably won't be charged until the end of the year, and are an allowable expense. You basically need to make a record of the cash you take (ingoings), and the expenses you make (things like rent, condoms, travel tickets/mileage, advertising etc). Some opinions vary on exact expenses which is why you need to really get some proper advice.

If you register for online submission there'll be a form with categories of expenses on it, group yours appropriately and the software works it all out.

Ok, thankyou.

Is it definitely completely anonymous? as in will a future employer be able to see from any tax forms or codes that I am a self employed escort?
