Cash in a locker. Possible scam?
« on: 29 March 2008, 01:41:57 pm »
A young-sounding guy called me and asked if I'd go to a naturist spa with him as his swinging partner. It sounded like fun, but it occurred to me that my fee wouldn't be secure. The staff keep the locker keys and give them to you when you ask, so it's not somewhere you want to bring valuables anyway and no-one would question my partner asking for my key. If I let him out of my sight at any point he could go and take back the money.

I told him that I wouldn't be happy having money there so I'd need to leave it with a friend in town and then go to the spa with him. He said he didn't want to do that and offered to give me half to give to my friend and the other half later. I said that wouldn't work for me.

He said he'd think about it and call this morning (the booking would be for this evening). I guess that means he's decided against it, although it's still early enough in the afternoon that he might call yet.

Have you been in or heard of a situation like this? Do you think he was trying to scam me or just worried I'd run off?

You wouldn't accept 'half now, half later' normally...

My guess is that it is the 'worried', but then I've never quite understood 'I'll take an escort with me to a swinging event' bookings.

(Bristol Gardens? I thought their locker system was better than that.)

No, but it's possible that "later" meant when we got there.

It's Bristol Gardens. I've only been there once and it was a while ago, but I don't think we kept the keys with us. I may have misremembered though. Still, keeping a few hundred pounds in a changing room locker is never a great idea.

I got a text from the guy saying his dad's in hospital.

By the same token he should be empathetic to your situation. If he wants to take an escort to a naturist spa then he should realise that it is a business transaction and as an escort you put yourself first as far as being paid goes.
Did he ever say whether or not he's taken other escorts to Bristol Gdns? If so, how did he deal with it then?
