I not from the many replies that a lot of you have jobs outside escorting, can I ask why?
Is it because Escorting does not support you or is there other reasons?

Personally, it's a case of not having all my eggs in one basket. I had a professional career for many years and built up a lot of knowledge and expertise that I would not like to go to waste. But as a freelancer now, work is uncertain.
The same goes for the escort work - I think we all experience periods of feast and famine - so it's good not to be 100% reliant on it. Also, at the moment, I'm able to turn down work and only see a few clients each week, so that I enjoy the job. I think if I felt compelled to see more purely for financial reasons, I'd be in danger of becoming burned out and jaded. I guess I'm trying to play the long game.

Same as Kayherts here. I already had my other career coming into escorting later in life, and don't want abandon it all together. Having a balance between the two makes things more interesting. It's great knowing that if I have had a good week escorting I can ease up in my other job ( I am self employed in that job as well) and if not then I can push the other job. I would not like to be totally dependant on escorting because if I don't feel like doing it at any time I don't have to.

I have another job outside escorting for a few reasons. Massive one is cover for family and friends who don' know- I'm close to my family and they would get very worried and suspicious about it. Second is so I don't have to do either full time- because escorting involves a lot of making yourself do stuff (working on your profile, emails, advertising, etc), if I'm not very well (I am disabled) it can be very hard to make myself do those things, whereas the three days a week I have to go into work I don't have a choice if I'm not well (and if I'm depressed then I usually feel a bit better for making myself go and do stuff, if that makes sense?).
I don't want to do this for the rest of my life, I'm doing it to help me get through postgraduate education, so I also can't really afford to have massive gaps of employment on my CV either.

I had another job (profession actually) before I started escorting. My profession bores me for several reasons and I've always wanted to do this.
I plan to drop my hours in my profession to do this more often. I have never done any one job for more than 6 years so perhaps that's why I'm becoming bored. At least with prossying, I'm my own boss.

I have a full time 40 hour a week job because escorting is far too unreliable where I live. Some weeks I can earn a small fortune from it, and other weeks I won't get any bookings.
I prefer having stability to know I can always pay my rent, bills, food and spending money. The extra money I make from escorting goes on savings or treats for myself

My reasons are similar to glitterfeminism's. I started escorting when I was a student to provide a bit of extra income and have now decided to take a year off from my undergraduate course for various reasons and to do some volunteering. I wouldn't want to do only escorting as when I apply for jobs in the future they will ask why there is a big gap on my CV in which I haven't been working and because of stigma I wouldn't feel comfortable putting down sex work. I also want to go into a clinical area of work and I simply wouldn't be accepted if I put on my applications that I worked as an escort.
