Is there a similar website for America
« on: 04 April 2011, 04:36:45 am »
Greetings all from the US,
I have considered escorting off and on for some time now  and have shared my feelings with a friend in the UK which directed me to this website.  I have found some wonderful tips and advice, however I was wondering if anyone knew of a similar website made by Americans.  I am looking to get their take on laws, penalties etc.  I have done some internet surfing but have not found any good resources!  Certainly nothing that compares to SAAFE!  Any help would be greatly appreciated!

There used to be one for men (Hook Online) but sadly, they got hit by spammers and rather than do something about it or accept offers of help, the person behind it gave up.

You won't discover this from their front page, but the resources are still online: http://www.hookonline.org/guides/EG.htm and lots of stuff is relevant to everyone working in the USA.
'The Ian formerly known as SW5'. What they said: "Indispensable", "You are our best resource", and (hours later!) "I'm afraid that you're being made redundant..."

Try this one: http://www.bayswan.org/

The short version is: prostitution is illegal here, but the vast majority of women who do it don't ever get arrested.  I have been an escort for ten years and I haven't, and I hardly have ever met any girl who had. You have to be careful where you put ads and what you say on the phone, but it's manageable.

Even if police really wanted to arrest every sex worker, which they don't, they don't have the time and money to do so. So the street girls get hassled some, and now and then (usually around election time) the cops in any given city will bust a couple of higher-profile escort services or massage parlors. But it's not common for women who work inside to have trouble.

Some cities are more conservative that others. If you're in NY or San Francisco, you're unlikely to have trouble. A very conservative city like, say, Cincinnati? You have to be more careful.

Hope that's helpful.

I'm in Phoenix, and know of several women who have been arrested. There have been several stings and raids though in Phx, but I think we have more than other cities..

You can ask for a trial access. To become a member I think it is based on a voting system. Means existing members has to vote if they know you and you are reliable and if you can get access.
Another way is that an existing member that know you can vouch for you as well.
The site has every info a working girl in USA needs to stay safe including lots of warnings.

Hiya  :D

I'm a member of DangerZone and I'm in Australia and it doesn't have any alerts (ugly mug info) I need, but I find the site amazing and I go there lots. They have loads of screening tips I learnt there and now use and safety stuff I never thought of. The ladies are heaps cool and don't mind I'm not in the US. It's nice to escape there out of Australian forums to have a laugh and a biatch lol.

If I was in the US, it'd be my religion like SAAFE would be in the UK.

13 years in here ! Hey American girl ! Great info and sound advice !! Police /FBI here use the excuse of trafficing for a reason to bust .. It's mostly with agencies or girls that actually look 15-16 etc.

Hi,

I've edited out the phone number from your post. If it's a number you use only for sex work and you don't mind anyone and their dog seeing it here and ringing you for whatever purpose they like, feel free to put it back.

Have you read the main saafe.info site and done a search here for other posts on specific US issues?

I currently live in Canada and I love this forum way more than any of the Canadian/Toronto boards for sex workers. I can't deal with the attitude on the Toronto boards I've been on - the ladies are all so catty and unhelpful. I love everyone here, they are all so pleasant and classy. xo.
