Is the number of people with HIV higher than expected?
« on: 01 December 2012, 03:44:26 pm »
On 'Sky news'this morning about promoting self awareness to people. Here is the quote "The Prime Minister has said too many people are not educated about HIV and Aids, and almost 25,000 people who have the human immunodeficiency virus are not aware they have been infected." Source..  http://news.sky.com /  story/ 1019069/  world-aids-day-bid-to-break-testing-record . This is aimed at Gay men mainly, so is it good news. They affected mostly compared to the rest of population groups. In other words no gay men see women escorts. But I know Bi ones swing both ways.

This sure has got me thinking about the risk it could be higher than I expected. Does this mean we as escorts are put at more risk knowing this. Or still the same as before risk?.

its a very scary thought.

i have often dodged bookings with guys i know that see both ts/tv and females.  i have no problem with anyones sexuality.  but i would be refusing certain services that i give to other guys so always come up with the "sorry i am busy".  but that leaves me thinking of how many guys have i seen who do swing both ways that i dont know about and i have perfomed all services i offer.

in an ideal world everyone would be aware of all the dangers and play safe but unfortunately its not the reality.

personally I'd avoid like the plague any client who likes to go to Thailand to see wgs, unfortunately its pretty hard to do so, when I think about these wgs coming over here to work sorry but it makes me feel ill, their hiv rate is so high and they can be passing it on to british clients as I know many clients like oriental wgs

Likewise I'm not keen on any client from sub saharan Africa, however how you would distinguish between a british african whos never been there and someone that has? All makes me very worried, although I provide pretty safe services with only owo and ro being unprotected, still I'm worried about the risks, I wonder how many wgs who dont provide BB have actually caught an sti from work?

Have you thought about looking into the research in this area?*

I doubt you are going to get the definite answers on a forum, not quantifiable data anyway. So what I'm asking is are you looking for actual answers or just reassurance/ possible scare mongering?

I hope this doesn't turn into another thread about bareback or discrimination against certain types of clients  :FF

* And no I don't mean looking at wikipedia. tip: google scholar  ;)

Clients slag escorts off all the time. So saying some thing little about them in my experience doesn't matter. To be honest this forum is full of client comments so not doing any thing wrong.

Scaremongering isn't my style but if you call the truth that so be it. This news was good value to me knowing as an escort. So thought to share. Even David Cameron said ''There is still too much ignorance about HIV and Aids''.   http://www.bbc.co.uk/ news/health-20564277 So don't get mad at the messenger here.

MD read my post again, I was clearly asking you what you wanted not what you were saying, and was certainly not accusing you of scare-mongering (merely the kind of response that your post would possibly provoke- I also asked about reassurance). Yes being ignorant of the truth is stupid which is why I suggested research. My post was about what you actually hoped to achieve through posting? You said you just wondered 'what other people thought' but you asked about risk factors in your original post, which is based on statistical analysis, which you wouldn't find from personal experiences.

It isnt, I just find it sensible practice to avoid men who have had sex with wgs in countries where lots of them have HIV, and to approach with caution and potentially avoid any client that comes from these countries, I dont believe its discriminating as its not about race or whatever its about whether this is a high risk sex partner xxx

i feel the same about bi men and men who like bb anal sex, that is harder to know though xx

Same here, I offer owo too and I worry, but as far as HIV goes I actually heard that even normal intercourse is not terribly contagious while oral is barely contagious at all. Articles like that do make me wonder though and also make me consider offering safe oral only.
the thing with owo that also worries me is that while HIV has minimal chance to be transmitted that way, some other STIs have high chances.

I dont know about HIV but there are so many STIs/STDs that we can catch in our throats, not just down below, if doing OWO/CIM, not worth the risk IMO.

It is about having a pretty mind, a pretty heart,
And most importantly a beautiful soul.

you can catch all these from oral sex, either giving or receiving - HIV, hepatitis A, hepatitis B and hepatitis C genital warts pubic lice chlamydia gonorrhoea herpes syphilis

not a nice thought, though I dont feel in the position to quit OWO atm (i stopped doing CIM over a year ago and even before that I'd barely do it and charge extra), I feel like my service may be too basic compared to local competition xx

A cold sore is a type of herpes can't remember which one. The information from the doctor was over whelming.
