Hi to all,
Hope you all doing well.
Anyway i got this phone call from a punter asking me if i was far from tube station,then when i replied around 10 min, he adds are you in an hotel?then I did not not answer to his question and asked him if he was a member of aw,he said no and then suddenly it seems no one was on the phone then i hang up . He did call back but i declined and texted him to send me an email via aw. I felt he was moving from one room from another when calling but do you think is it safe to receive people who want to know if in hotel or flat? . Most of my customer who call never ask me for that ,they just come after i text them my details.
Could you let me your thoughts

Some do not like visiting hotels, some prefer visiting hotels. I would go with your gut feeling.

They ask me about it from time to time and guess what? I never ended up having a meeting with those type of guys so for me it is a form of time wasting.

I get asked that and the guys mostly go on to book. And I'm always working from private apartments, never hotels. So I wonder if the ones asking are nervous about discreet locations and prefer not to visit hotels.
I don't have a problem saying it, it's a vague answer to give and better than the ones who just want your postcode or address straight off the bat.

Some clients like hotels only or apartments only.

I see no problem with telling them which type you are in but it doesn’t mean you need to give the name.

Having just come back from a tour I had several message me if I was in x x x hotel. I didn’t reply to them. Had a weird feeling that they were either 1) stalking weirdo to ‘find me’ and just know they’ve seen what I look like (over paranoid or what) and 2) just address collectors. It wasn’t one of my most successful tours but I covered my bills. I am noticing a LOT of time wasters atm. I wish I could get into their brains to understand why they do it.

I avoid all WhatsApp on business accounts and also on disappearing messages. No good has ever come from them.

When they ask you if it’s a hotel or apartment. I always ask them, “do you have a preference?” This weeds out address collectors. You’re not volunteering any unnecessary information to someone with bad intentions. If they say I don’t like hotels no need to continue with the conversation and give them your hotel name.

Unless you are staying in a location with a very small number of hotels it's probably OK

Some have a fear of hotels. They think they'll get caught or stopped by reception or seen by someone they know or they don't think they're dressed smartly enough or are worried about using hotel parking (all excuses I have heard)

There are those who have a preference because they're up to no good and think one or the other will be easier, but aside from the normal checks that is just an unfortunate part of the business we have to navigate

As the above post says asking if they have a preference is a great idea (thanks for that suggestion!)

This is a tough one, as some guys just don't feel comfortable walking in to hotels, they feel as if eyes are on them even if its not true, which I can understand if you are nervous/shy. But I also think some thieves target women working in hotels because they feel like its a safer bet because they think in apartments there could be someone in the next room who could come out and its easier to steal things quickly when everything is just in the one room. So I don't necessarily not see guys who ask this, but it puts me a bit on guard. It's a 'yellow' flag for me rather than a red one.
