It's antiperspirant, not just deodorant, and it's supposed to prevent shaving rash by closing the pores but I doubt it would make any difference to ingrown hairs.

Alcohol is also meant to close pores (maybe less than the antiperspirant), which is why men use aftershave and some women use perfume in it's place. Cold water works too; that's what I used to use.

Oooh, OK, I was thinking about the "odour" side of things. Thanks for explaining. My eyes were watering at the thought of perfuming the flower  ;D :D

Yeah, if I was doing it I think I'd use some kind of unscented alcohol (surgical spirit? vodka?). It would still sting, but at least I'd know I wasn't putting anything particularly wrong there.

I bought a specialist shaving kit online (japanese I think) and also it doesn't shave as close as an ordinary razor, I hardly ever get any ingrowns.  Also yes if you shave in the direction of growth it helps.

I use Aloe Vera gel as a mousterisor down there (not straight after maybe the next day) and that helps with any irrititation.

Ingrowns.. VILE!! I hate them with  a passion and they always appear it the most inappropriate times too. If I'm holed up in my bedroom doing cam shows I never get them... when the boyfriend says he's going to pop round for the night BAM... there it is.

I remember once I had an ingrown that left me unable to sit or walk without extreme pain. It was the size of a large grape and I couldn't get the bugger out as it was so swollen. about 5 or 6 days later I worked up the courage to pop it. It was like a scene from a low budget horror movie but holy crap, the relief was instant, pmsl.

Sorry for the TMI  ;D

Don't know 100% if it contributes to the easing the problem, but forgot to mention I usually brush my skin before showering each morning.  It's maybe worth trying too?

Ever considered getting it waxed? I rarely shave there anymore, the gym i goto has a beauty salon and the lady there waxes my bits 'down there' every 3-4 weeks usually dependant on when i get a client who books me for longer than 3 hours in which case i groom myself to my very best appearance for him.

Im foverer shaving my legs, i work for a gentlemans club so keeping my legs looking smooth is like a top priority.

Of course she has, since she'd have to have actually done it to know that it gives her worse results as she said it does.

Lol. I was stripping when I started waxing, and I was bad at making the appointments so I did it about once every four weeks. I felt like a drag queen in the changing room with killer heels and hairy legs, but out in the club it's too dark to tell the difference.

Know exactly what youre saying lol. But in the VIP rooms i let them touch my bum, legs and waist. They arnt supposed to but its my way of encouraging them even more of what they can have if they want to go further, for extra.

Those stripper heels were so hard to get used to walking and dancing around in! took me ages to get to the level of walking with elegance, now i can wear them so casually im so used to them, at least they help my legs and bums tone definition. I have a few pairs of 6" heels with the 2" platform, any higher is just... no.

I switched to waxing as my poor delicate skin was sick to death of shaving rash, but I still get horrible ingrown hairs, looked at reviews for various solutions and one that stood out was Skin Doctors ingrow go, fab reviews, had wax yesterday and mentioned it to the girl doing it and she swears by it, so will let you know how I get on!

Now if anyone can come up with a solution of this 4 weeks growth in between waxing!
Thought about offering NURU Massage??

I've had IPL treatment and that has been the best money ever spent.  I used to get really bad in grown hair because I have really curly thick hair.  I used to use lavender oil and tea tree oil, it does smell when you put it on, but eventually wears off.

The lavender oil is to calm the skin after shaving and tea tree oil is to prevent and draw out in-growns.

The Clinique toner Strawberry mentioned also works, but I lived miles from anywhere that sold it and I was way to lazy to go and get it.

Now that I've been IPL ed no problem.  You can also buy home laser/ILP machines now, I've just bought the Boots one.  I want to do my arms and legs.  Hopefully it works, the reviews are pretty good.

You'll av to let us know how it goes luv.

Is that the gel?  I found it by accident because I suddenly got a massive flare up of rosacea on my face last summer (I mean my face was so red & firey I couldn't even go out of doors I was so embarassed).  Anyway this was then the only mousteriser my face would tolerate and so I figured it would be gentle enough for down under too.

It seems to be okay, I think the first time I used it I had not given enough time for the wax chaffing to settle so was a bit owtch, but now it is okay, but as of yet still the same problem.
What is the aloe vera you are using?

Its a 100% organic and bioactive (whatever that means!) gel... About ?6 at Boots... Was a great buy... I am now using it in the evenings on my face in lieu of very expensive Dermalogica moisturisers - I wake up looking refreshed with dewy skin! Hardly even need foundation anymore... It's really one of the most amazing things ive ever tried!
