Incall camera doorbell
« on: 28 March 2021, 10:13:43 pm »
Hi ladies,

I've just moved into a new flat that I'll be taking incalls from when things open up again. It's nicer than my old place but the door doesn't have a peephole or a buzzer, just a knocker, and the building intercom is call only: no video. My old place had a video intercom so I could see exactly who I was buzzing in, and I'm feeling a bit flummoxed without it. Has anyone installed a camera above their flat door, or a Ring doorbell? Do clients comment on them?

I know this might sound like I'm overthinking things, but it's got me a bit anxious!

Would you be allowed to drill a hole in the door to fit a spyhole? You can buy spyhole cameras that connect to your phone :)

I think if you’d need to get permission from your landlord maybe, but if it’s facing into the hallway you’d also need permission from the building owner and possible the other tenants. I have only heard this from a friend recently that is in a flat and had this idea so she called a company that installs them and they told her about what kinds of permissions she would need. So it’s not as straight forward with a flat I think. But it’s always worth calling a company and asking what the rules are.
As for the clients, they would probably come in anyway but it may put a couple off coming back. But safety always comes first! And there’s always going to be punters, plus the nice genuine ones won’t mind if they’re understanding blokes

Is it better to put up video intercom on ur flat door or on the building door ? And do you need permission to do it for the building door ? It’s only normal video intercom ?

This always baffles me cos the same punters come to hotels and those establishments have cameras plastered everywhere.

It would only put off the punters who were worried about being a arse to you or giving you bad feedback knowing you have there face on camera which that is a good thing. Can put off some of the paranoid ones or ones with bad intentions but that is a good thing.

If you want one and can get one do it. It's your safety, stuff what anyone else thinks of it.

I know a couple who have CCTV at there place they work they still get clients and regulars. If they like you/trust you there come back and normal men would understand the dangers we face so having extra protection is to be expected.

I have a ring doorbell and also had it at the last place I rented. I have never had any negative feedback from clients but then most of my regulars are lovely.

It's for my safety so if they don't like it tough they can go elsewhere.

Also its handy in case the postman or delivery guy rings when I'm waiting for a client dressed in next to nothing or some naughty outfit. Almost been caught out in the past.

I would hang a decorative wreath outside my door and hide a small spy hole camera inside the wreath with the camera conveniently facing outside. Nobody knows it's there, landlords, neighbours or clients. End of the problem.

Do you have it on the outside of the fat building front door or inside on outside your flat door ? Xx

Top idea. Any particular brand you recommend at all please, Amy?
