The big question is do you want to do incalls there? If not, you can save a significant sum by avoiding central London. You'd also save lots by renting a room rather than a whole flat.

For a flat in the centre, I wouldn't be surprised by ?2,000 a month, or about four times what rooms further out would cost.

Paddington, Kensington, Knightsbrigde, Mayfair, Chelsea etc. are pretty over-saturated. I would suggest somewhere near to the city (such as Clerkenwell, Farringdon, Shoreditch, Spitalfields, London Bridge) or Canary Wharf to catch the lunch-time and post-work bookings from city types
