I think i've been scammed..
« on: 15 July 2009, 06:59:08 pm »
Hi,

I have recently been scammed by an agency called Model Couples.  They told me i had a booking, giving details of the client, I paid them I fee of ?265 and told 'Phil' would contact me.  I heard nothing and when rang the agency they said the client had tried to call me but couldn't get through so asked for someone else.  This was 3-4 weeks ago. Each week I call them and ask what going on and they say that it's the clients choice of who they pick from the site and are trying to persuade me to pay ?100 to put 6 photo's on.  Today I spoke with them again and I voiced my concerns.  I have now googled 'scam escort agencies' and what they have done to me is definatly a scam.
I'm so annoyed and upset that I didn't research this properly first before parting with my money (that I do not have much of!)!!

Can you give me any advice on what I can do to get my money back.  Can I go to the police and take legal action?

Please help!!

So sorry to hear that you have been scammed.  Yes you could try to pursue them by going to the police but I hold out little hope of you getting your money back.  Many of the scam operators are registered in Spain and run a number of scams often also run fake modelling agencies etc and there is little you can do to actually hunt the registered company owner down and get a refund.

Yep. You're not the first, and sadly you won't be the last.

This is yet another name for the Spanish lot who have been coming up with different names for the same basic scam for about five years now.

In English law, what they're doing is illegal, fraud by false representation. I've no idea if it is illegal in Spain, but distance from their victims is one of the reasons they're there.

Complain to wherever you saw the ad.

'The Ian formerly known as SW5'. What they said: "Indispensable", "You are our best resource", and (hours later!) "I'm afraid that you're being made redundant..."
