I have really loved this forum for the past few months and think it is better than the local forums I have tried. 

 I'm cominging to visit my granny in Edinburgh  mid August and I would like to make it out to work one or two nights. When I had an ad up here it was in the VIP section of eros.  And compared to my contemporaries I charged a lot (normal is between $150- 350 and I charged 5 or 6 hundred for the hour).  So I would like to find an agency that would be willing to represent me for a large sum,  I'm not sure with the exchange rate what that would be.  Does anyone have some advice on a comparable rate?

Can you all make some agency suggestions?

I dooooo hate paying agencies as I'm more than capable of handling my own bookings.  Would it be worth while to post an ad instead?  I'm only going to be in town for two weeks and I'm only going to take a few dates,  around 5. Any suggestions as to where I should post?

I'm not very comfortable with the international dialing but I will work to figure it out. is it hard to make a US cell phone work in Scotland?

any other tips?  If any of you ladies where going to be traveling to Chicago I could "trade dates" with you.  Meaning that if you could set me some appointments there, I would happily do the same for you here.

I'm not aware of a real high-end market outside of London, so I don't know if charging twice as much as everyone else wold get you any work in Scotland. $500-600 is ?250-300, which I think is unlikely to work as an hourly rate, but who knows, maybe with the right marketing it could be done.

Touring is pretty common here, so there are touring boards. Apparently Punternet is the most popular for that (brace yourself, there are some very unclassy ads there). Punterlink and puntingzone also have touring boards. You can also put up a profile on adultwork based in Edinburgh, and you'll show up as new to the area which will get people's attention.

To make a US phone work in the UK, you need a triband or quadband GSM handset and a contract which allows international roaming. If that doesn't make any sense to you, you'll need to ask your provider. They probably have something on the website dealing with the issue. If your phone is prepay, it's highly unlikely that you'll be able to roam internationally.

You'll want a UK phone if you decide to work independently, you can order one for ?15 from Virgin.

Yeah,  I looked on puntersnet and you aren't kidding!  There are some funny ads.  And it is a diverse group of women that are working from there.

I've never seen that site before, but it looks like placing an ad in Edinburgh is free, so at least you don't need to worry about being ripped off.

I haven't read Belle Du Jour (or watched the TV series), but a lot of people in the industry believe it's pure fiction. Certainly, anal is not required. Some girls do it if they feel like it, some do it for an extra fee, plenty don't do it at all.

I've never worked in the US so I can't say much about the differences, but I do know that the terms used are different, and the etiquette is different because neither party is incriminated by the transaction (well, apart from the bit where you're working without a visa). I don't know if you ask for references, but that isn't normally done here.

Ohh, just saw this post,  am I too late to respond?  Are you there and doing the business already? 

Ok, if not, I toured in Edinburgh last month and had a great time.  I only saw one gent per day but all (3) were perfect gents and even gave me tips (who said the Scots were tight?!)  I recommend putting an ad on alba ladies website  and intimate scotland.  It may be too late for you to do that darling but anyone else thinking of visiting Edinburgh should find that helpful - the shops are fab too xx
