I would only go for a business account if l lost every single one of my current accounts.

Really do you think there is a draw back to opening a business account?

Monthly charges, charges for individual transaction e.g. every single cash deposit, every payment in or out, and unless one of the fly-by-night new banks they may ask a lot of questions.  I have just opened one. The fly-by-night was fairly day,  the established bank not easy.

I work in a bank. its to do with money laundering regulations. they can block your account and ask you to provide proof of entitlement to unblock it.
tell them as Amy said, that its from self employment, from massage/whatever activity. they dont need to upsell business account.

Any amounts of cash over 10k is classed as [suspected] money laundering. I remember with first direct HSBC offshoot and they sent me a letter saying i had reached 10k cash and they by law had to report to HMRC. Which was fine I gave them accountants details and im down as holistic therapy.

If I know good, for personal accounts the limit  £1,000 per 24-hour period , and £10,000 per 12-month period.

I’ve deposited a lot more than this into a personal account with Lloyds in a 24 hour period and in the 12 month period. I’ve never had any issues yet.  I pay HMRC from that account monthly though (with the budget payment plan for the upcoming year) and the amounts aren’t small so maybe they can already see I’m declaring it

Never deposited 10k in one go though

So did mine until I was about to rent my flat and needed to show it to a lettings agency; I would have been a complete idiot to not have changed it (and one without a flat). Are you saying you would have left it?

We have countless posts from members here about the various occupations they have on theirs; I've never lied to a bank, but given the problems others have had I can understand why some would and I'm surprised if some people can't.

What documents did they ask to see please? This is news to me because I’ve never known anyone to request a full copy of a self assessment. They usually ask for SA302 and tax calculation/overview neither of which state your occupation. So in theory your self assessment can say Gardener and you could tell your bank Dog walker and they couldn’t check.

I did this when getting my mortgage. I told the mortgage a different occupation to what is on my self assessment and had no problems.
Same as when I got my car finance and a loan.

I’ve helped a couple of my friends too and they never had to show their full self assessment so no way of knowing the occupation

From memory, six months bank statements and most recent tax return; it was almost four years ago so I don't remember the exact wording. Central London was competitive even then.

There are threads about renting flats dotted about the forum which will have more info from a range of posters. I didn't need a mortgage to buy my flat, but I'm pretty sure that's covered on relevant threads too :).

I use the term massage therapist for HMRC and same for banks. No issues so far but also have a part time office job so all good so far. Its a good idea to have multiple accounts I think and distribute the cash that way.

You  say you get public funds so I’m assuming benefits / universal credit of some sort
Next year AW will be sending your details to HMRC along with any earnings you have cashed out from there in credits under a new EU Law for digital platforms

If you get Universal credit they are also doing reviews of millions of peoples bank accounts so if you get money into an account that you have benefits paid into then they will see this money

They want to know all bank accounts you have and will often check your credit file to see what accounts you have in your name
