I CAN do this, can i??!
« on: 11 September 2011, 09:07:37 pm »
Hi everyone,

Ok, well i have been a bit of a lurker for quite some time, but have finally reached dire straits and so have decided to go for it and become an escort.

I have just showered and shaved ready to take some photos of myself, and am going to get going on moonfruit.

Am a single parent, so hotel visits will be for me.
Just now i am actually starting to plan everything, i'm getting a little scared. Obviously worried about safety, but also lots of other things, like i say i can do it now, sitting at home in my dressing gown (very glamourous i know!), but when i am actually there, will i be able to?? Silly really as i have to.

You all seem such lovely, helpful, friendly folks, so really, what i need is someone to tell me this is normal, and i can do this!

It's perfectly normal and you CAN do it:-)

I still get nervous 2 years on. Rescue remedy in a bottle of water and pretend I'm acting in a film and I'm usually fine!

I was worried if I was able to do it or not when I started, too.  I did tantric massage as a form of 'escorting lite' for several months

When I finally took the plunge I found that it wasn't a million miles away from just bad casual sex that I wasn't really into!

Thanks for your reassurances - really appreciated.
Had terrible failure trying to do my photos last night. Can't afford professional ones at the mo, So messing around with self timer & camera balanced on 7 books & a storage box! Didnt end well! Will try again tonight!

Get on ebay and buy the 'swivvel screen' camera! Thats what i did! I think it was only ?22. Put it on the 10sec timer then quickly pose! At least with the swivvel screen, you can see if you're in frame or not!
I am not selling sex! I'm selling condoms with free demonstration!

You might want to get a mini tripod while you're at it. Doesn't give you as many options as a proper tripod, but they're really cheap and give you a bit more flexibility with height and angles.

Full tripods are cheap too.
https://www.amazon.co.uk/s/ref=nb_sb_noss?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=tripod&x=0&y=0
Also you can have a lot more flexibility on the poses.

I've just ordered a full-size(ish) tripod and thought about some other ways that I could make self-portraits easier.

1. Seeing what I'm doing! I was vaguely aware that all digital cameras have an output so you can plug them into the TV and view your photos that way, which I've never wanted to do. What that also means though is that you can see what the camera's seeing while you take pictures; you don't need a swivel screen. You do need to have a TV or computer monitor in the room of course (most desktop monitors will work), but if I want to take pictures in my bedroom I think moving the TV will be worth it for the extra convenience and better shots. You should be able to do this with any digital camera and your camera and/or TV probably came with the cable you need.

2. Remote control. This might not be an option if you have a compact camera, but check your manual or search for the model name and "remote". Wired remotes seem to have cables under a metre which won't be enough for full-body shots, so you need an infra-red or radio one. Third parties make them cheaper than the camera manufacturers, and I just ordered a wireless one for ?14 from Amazon.

I got my tripod from Argos for about sixteen quid, and the wireless remote for my camera was under a tenner from one of the photography shops on Ebay. I would highly recommend both, although I haven't tried the TV thing and wouldn't know how (and my telly is massive, so dragging round the flat isn't really an option  ;D). All the pictures in my Gallery are self taken bar a couple of outdoor ones, and I've never had anything but positive comments.

All my pics I took myself either with ny phone or webcam camera.  Ok so its a pain in the ass positioning, esp the phone and for every one good picture there's a load of duds.  But they've served me well so far, however am thinking of getting a proper camera for the next lot!
