Hi everyone. I had a small genital wart frozen off in the week. I asked the nurse when I can resume activity and she said as soon as it is gone. But won't I still be contagious? I do parties and I don't think condoms protect against it, should I refrain? There are doubtless a lot of marrieds there and I don't want to be the cause of awkward matrimonial situations!
Could you ask the staff? As far as I understand once frozen off, you are no longer infectious but I am not medically qualified and do not know this for fact.
I've now read the NHS website page for genital warts, the NHS page says;
Many people do not have warts but do have the virus, and can be infectious.
You can be infectious after wart removal
Use condoms to prevent genital transmission.
The page mentions sharing sex toys as a transmission route, sounds like this is best avoided at parties or use a condom on the toy (I do this when using toys on clients then throw condom and use disinfectant spray afterwards)
I still advise asking qualified medical staff, as well as reading the information on the NHS page.
