Try to stay in hotels that aren't key card access only ; otherwise you will have to go down to reception to collect every client and that ensures that discretion goes out the window!
Similarly, avoid hotels that have doormen on at night, quite a few of the ibis hotels have doormen that will ask your name and room number before letting you back in and won't allow you to have multiple guests, although last time I stayed at an ibis the doormen only worked Friday and Saturday nights; I spoke to a friendly receptionist the next morning and she said it was because they had problems with large groups of people staying in rooms meant for 2 people and general chaos with stag and hen parties etc.
If you're not sure about the hotel you're staying in only book one night; you can always book another night but you can rarely get your money back if you want to cancel.
Consider aparthotels; they're usually arranged online and a lot have a keypad code entry system. Try to pick a private residential building with no concierge. In my experience aparthotels are better in every way, you get a lot more for your money and it's a lot cheaper as they have a kitchen and washing machine etc so you don't have to eat out constantly. Clients also tend to to prefer a quiet apartment building as opposed to a hotel, you can also team up with a working friend and get one with 2 bedrooms if you want.
Touring/hotel work is always a risk. However I've never not made money when working from hotels or aparthotels. I'd advise advertising that you're going to be available in that area on that date a bit in advance, and if you're on adultwork pay for the location search and available today features on the days your working from the hotel.
Finally, getting burnout is common in this business and if you get easily overwhelmed then just remember to take a step back if and when you need to- no amount of money is worth it if you're not happy with what you're doing and the job makes you unhappy.
I hope this helps, you're welcome to message me if you want to ask anything or just need someone to talk to!
