Different rates for different part of day
« on: 18 June 2022, 05:43:09 pm »
Hi. I was wondering does anyone have different rates for different parts of day?
For example slightly cheaper before 4/6pm, since you would like to take off evening off?

I don't, but I don't think a premium between 11pm and 7am is unreasonable, or maybe e.g. a lunchtime offer to pull in the office jockeys.

I once tried a lower rate for advance booking for daytime hours (something liken10am-3pm), it didn't change the hours clients booked, and 2 misread the hours turned up with the lower rate 1 for a booking outside the hours the other after I stopped the offer (said he'd not looked at my website for a month).

Not per se, but there is a surcharge for bookings ending after 11:00pm. (This excludes overnights, obviously). And having recently done an 8:00am breakfast booking, am thinking of introducing a surcharge for those too.

When I had my old work flat I used to have a cheaper rate during the day (10am-4pm) to encourage them so I could get my money earned by mid afternoon and get home early and it worked fine. I don't think I had more than one or two punter 'confused' by the timings or when the cut off was in at least four years of doing this and the best advice I can give is to be very clear in your ads and make sure all arrangements are confirmed in writing (so by text rather than over the phone, or email if you use it) to remove any chance of 'misunderstandings'.

This is now my practice with any new clients I confirm by email or text, receipt of deposit, balance to pay cash, time, date, duration, location, confirmation time.

Funnily enough one of the confusions was a guy who complained I needed payment at the start. Yes to avoid misunderstandings like this.  The other told me he had not read the full sentence on my website, only the reduced rate not the hours it applied to. And despite my full rates being clearly displayed higher up the page.

Anyhow all clear nowadays.

Definitely; I took a booking by phone earlier this week which I very rarely do, and the time ended up being brought forwards by fifteen minutes on the day when confirming by text. Had I asked for the confirmation by phone the bloke could have basically turned up whenever he felt like it as there would be no proof or reference anywhere as to exactly what had been agreed (plus my memory gets worse by the day and if I have say four bookings relatively close together I can't trust myself to remember who wants what  :-\ :D).

I was actually thinking of doing this, my rates are going to be going up soon and I was thinking of even offering the whole last week of the month on a slight discount because it always gets a bit slow anyway.

I did this just last night.
A known client texted just before 7pm (the time I switch my phone off if I am not already out somewhere)
It would be 9pm by the time I arrived at his. Not too bad, but by the time I was heading home I knew there would be motorway overnight closures (because there always is  ::)) so I would get home around 11pm..and I hate that these days.
I added £20 to my fee, or offered him anytime next day at the usual fee.. Just two minutes after I sent the first text, I told him I was switching off instead and hope to see him today. Just couldn't face it I realised

My evening rate is £50 more per hour than my day rate .
I don’t like the evening bookings , I don’t like travelling to my incall flat again , so I made sure if I get a n evening booking, it’s well worth it  ;D
