Banners/Link Exchanges/Advertising!!!
« on: 12 August 2008, 09:32:43 am »
Hi all.

As some of you may know I recently set up a website which am happy with.  Am slowly making efforts to exchange banners/links so as to promote myself as much as possible.

I am, to say the least, confused sometimes!!!

Firstly, punterlink say they want their banner on my front page, yet I have succesfully submitted my site on the free listing basis.  However, when trawling through their site I cannot find my mention, although I was succesfully listed on the new additions section by the date it was put up!

Secondly, UK Belles - again they say they want their banner in the first three I think or front page (cannot remember) - I have emailed them about a month ago and heard nothing.  I know there is a mention somewhere of not hassling them to push my site so I sent a courteous email enquiring about position of their link and have heard nothing.

I am successfully set up on punternet which of course is chargeable (but happy to pay as only ?12 per month) and have had some interest from clients via that site.

However, punterlink I cannot make head of tail of - am I there or am I not there!!!!

Captain 69 - again not sure if I am there or not as I did submit my listing.

So any thoughts and also any other recommendations for submissions will be much appreciated.

Have just looked on puntingzone and they also stipulate front page banner exchange.

London Independants were really helpful - I think they also said front page showing but I emailed him and he said no problem and am listed there - In fact both London Independants and punternet were extremely helpful.

Also, have no understanding of "hits" - and how it all works but am going to email my website people as they have also been very helpful in helping me set it all up.

wish you all a great week

Ask them (your web designer) to put a google analytics code into your site - you can then track all your visitors, where they come from, keywords etc etc every day yourself. x

Write to the webmaster of Punterlink and ask him to send you a link to where you're supposed to be advertised. Ask him which category you're in and how easily you could be found.

The second time around it took my site 6 weeks to get listed on UK Belles. So I would just grit my and wait patiently. Not what you want to hear I know, but in terms of google ranking it's really worth the wait.

Puntingzone is pretty straight forward. The rest I can't comment on as I have no experience of them.

You could also try Girl Directory. Imo they're not brilliant for traffic (I had one direct enquiry that I know of) but they have prominent advertising on the U.S site Big Doggie, so it's good for overseas visitors.

When I applied to UK Belles I don't remember how long I waited - over a month - and then I sent an email asking him to confirm that he'd received it. He adding my listing the next day (and was quick to remove my number when I asked, which was nice), so I think it's worth sending another polite email if nothing happens in a while.

Galahad didn't get back to me either of the times I submitted his form. The first time I sent him an email and he got it sorted, the second time I couldn't be bothered and left it.
