Sometimes I’m conflicted on how long to wait for them to reply. Some of them don’t reply till after 10 mins but I get impatient and sometimes block them if they haven’t replied within 5 minutes. What do you think is a suitable amount of time in between messages where they don’t reply where you write them off as a Timewaster?

I really have no tolerance for time wasters.
If they have not called or arrived on time I'm ready to block .

Assuming this is for when arranging bookings rather than turning up for them, I don't have a time limit. If somebody else can make a firm booking for the same time before they reply, then they've lost their chance and will have to go for later/earlier :)

Confirming is different; if somebody books the day before they have to confirm before 10am or it's cancelled. They have ten hours to get that one right, so if they can't I'd rather see somebody who can.

Exactly the same as this but I make them get up early and confirm by 9am  ;D

If the op is talking about when they are due to be at the booking and she is waiting for them to reply to her message asking if they are late or lost, then they get up to 10 mins post booking time depending on my schedule,  if I've had no reply after 10 mins they get a booking cancelled text and a CE report for a no show if I've had no correspondence with an explanation by the 1 hour over time mark

I edited my post (ten hours is 10am, not 12 😖) but yes. The two nearest tube stations to me are five minutes away each, so while I understand if they're stuck underground they can't text, I expect an update as soon as they're out if they're going to be late. I had one turn up ten minutes late without any warning as call as if nothing had happened from the corner a few weeks ago and I had another punter on his way in a cab; had he let me know he would be late but was on his way five minutes sooner when he got out of the station he would have still had a booking.

I'm glad it's not just me that gets impatient   ;D

I give them at least ten minutes before writing them off when enquiring about bookings. I do keep in mind they may be driving, working etc.

Those that are vague about when they want to book because of work etc I dismiss even if I've seen them before.
In this case, they shouldn't bloody get in touch if they can't pin down a time they can make  ::)

If they take ages to reply I just don’t think they’re that keen or serious about it. Good way to test this is to tell them that someone else is also asking for that time. Can they confirm if they’re going ahead or not. Works a lot of the times .

When somebody requests a booking time l reply with my landmark and ask if that location is ok. If they don’t reply within 10 min l client eye them as address seekers. I will give longer if l have not seen their text for some time though.
I'm glad I got all the Cynthia Payne books before the prices rocked to sky high.

I usually leave it till the end of the day when I tidy up my phone.

I tend to forget about these type of enquiries and deal with the decent ones. If they don’t respond to me once I’ve given out details, I might block earlier but some say they will contact later. When they don’t, I block them.

I'm taking enquiries all the time, unless the enquirer is a regular who I know gets back to me when he can I just carry on dealing with enquiries. A booking isn't made until time, date, duration is agreed and if someone new or anyone I need a deposit from has paid the deposit (preferably arrived in my account).

Well it still comes off their time, so I don't really care if they're late - I get the same money for less work! I think it also helps that I get very few timewasters and no shows, and also that I can generally get another one on the way fairly promptly if I do get let down, which people in less populated areas can't always do.

It's a bit of a bubble, but being in an area where virtually all the punters are inbetween work/meetings I have to accept a fair bit of chopping and changing with times - things run over and get moved and so on.(in the same way that other people may regularly have punters finding trouble with parking say, which I don't). I'd have long since gone nuts if I couldn't be flexible.
