How long...
« on: 25 October 2011, 11:20:46 pm »
Just started escorting and I'm just interested to know how long it will take to become busy? Alot of the girls I've talked to say a couple of months or longer...

Help!

There's no real answer to your question I'm afraid, it's not so black and white...

All you do is work as hard as you can and constantly re access.

the worse thing anyone can do is set up and sit and do nothing, it takes constant work.

Unfortunately Rose this is like asking how long a piece of string is.

There can not be a definitive answer due to many different things.

WHERE are you located for work?  HOW MUCH are you charging?  WHAT SERVICES are you offering?  HOW MANY days a week are you working?  HOW MANY hours a week are you working?

That is just a few of the things that have to be taken into the equation.

I do not know where you are but in Scotland - and I've said this a dozen times or so - 3 years ago there was only 300 registered escorts in Scotland NOW there are over 950, (this is on AW only and not ALL escorts in Scotland so the number is probably 3 or 4 times this number) so theoretically our business are down to 0.33% of what they were 3 years ago, then there is the fact that the number of guys may have  stayed the same BUT they have less money to spend now due to the economic climate, so guys that the more established might have seen once a week or so are now only seeing them once a fortnight or once a month.  So again that has halved their business.

So really no one can answer your question.  Perhaps we will never be busy again.  Years ago we could be kept busy ALL the working hours we could do but that is not the situation now.  Many girls go days on end without any work.  There is also the fact that it is coming up for Christmas - that will affect business too as guys have to save up for christmas presents.

I could go on forever Rose.  All I can say is - if you think you will get loads of men through your door every day of the week then I think you are mistaken - I could be wrong - but I very much doubt it.

In your initial months of working you may find that you ARE kept busy but that soon wears off.  If you have not been inundated with loads of emails from the normal timewasters then don't expect it to change.

Many girls come into the Adult Industry thinking that it is money easy made - it is far from it.

Time will tell you how things are going to go, but please don't let desperation for work make you put your guard down.  You still have to be aware that there are not so nice guys out there and avoid them like the plague.

Don't cut corners to make an extra buck as it more likely as not come back and bite you on the bum.

Stay safe and vigilant everyone.

+1

It really depends how much you advertise, sometimes where you advertise, how much demand there is in your area, and so on.
Sometimes just weeks, or perhaps months.

Just stay positive, and if you really want to do this and keep doing it then make sure you're doing all you can.

Good luck!

Sometimes when you start escorting that is the busiest you will be as most guys want to see the 'newbie' so thats another angle to look at it from.

When I started online and registered with AW (just over 5 yrs ago) I received over 400 emails. Ok I had to suss out that most were timewasters  but I did, nowadays I'm lucky if I get that number in a year.

Agreed with Lady. I was constantly busy in Scotland for a year, to the point I became arrogant with my money as I was always living well. I only ever relied on AW for the most part; didn't have my own website, anything. Used the Sport a few times but I hate repeating myself and thats what a day answering your 'sport phone' can consist of  ::)

Life happened and I moved down south to London for my 'grown up degree' job, thought I'd keep working part time, and its DEAD. Its an industry, it has peaks and lows. Where in the country are you based, are you advertising in the right places for there? What are your rates/services? How does your 'style' (not just looks but persona) fit that area? I can charge in Kent what I did in Glasgow for the same services/style, but London is different. Do they prefer AW/PN/something else?

Remember you are self employed now, and like any new business, it can take a while to establish. I came to England expecting to hit the ground running (because I was lucky up north) and man have I had a wake up call lol. You need to know your market inside out. You need to know your competition - and I mean that nicely, not in an undercutting other girls or making their lives difficult. But knowing the average rates etc: market research, I suppose. I am really glad I have a wage to rely on on top of this. We're still in recession, so factor in the cost of living where you are against people's disposable income. Don't always rely on being the new girl: we get more timewasters chancing their arm! ::) One month you may be crazy busy - the next you won't.

I found things were slow when I started (loads of emails yes but mostly TWs) but I did it part time really for a while and the slow intro suited me.  I found once I had some feedback on AW I got more bookings.

As I wasn't sure I'd want to carry on doing it I didn't see the point of other advertising other than AW initially. Once I'm settled somewhere I'm going to go ape on the advertising (well I've started own website and Pnet - but I hardly ever get bookings from there, more TWs)

I've found I've been busy just with AW but that could be because I can't always work, can't be the 'newbie' effect 10 months in!

Mellow, IT CAN BE the newbie effect 10 months in.  There is no doubt about that.

I've seen girls still putting 'NEW' on their profiles and they have been on the site for over a year.  Thats the girls doing it though for more attention.
