didn't realize that dick is seriously always going to be there.
you crack me up
That's a very good way of putting it though. It probably takes a bit of time and experience to learn to trust your own instincts, I can definitely relate. Personally when I've let clients push me out of my comfort zone like this it doesn't work out well overall... for example when I've let a client convince me to attend a late-night hotel outcall, that turned out to be way further away than I thought, I ended up coming back to my hotel at 5am, sleeping all morning, and missing a morning booking that would have been more lucrative and far less sketchy. So yep... remember that dick will always be there. In plentiful supply
As far as shutting down old clients. Personally I like to avoid any kind of conflict or heated conversations with clients, mostly for safety and not wanting to fear retribution from unhinged loners or thick twats with anger management problems, but also for my sanity - I'm not going to allow them to think they are significant enough in life to get to me.
I would just let them contact you, and politely explain that your rates have gone up/ service menu has changed. If they persist in trying to book you, just say...
'oh that's great, would you like one hour at (£x new 1 hour rate) or two hours at (£x new 2 hour rate)'
'errrr... no at your old rate?'
'oh no sweetie, as I've explained, my prices have gone up, maybe call me back if you find you can afford to book me at these rates'
They probably won't of course. But if they persist in asking to book at your old rate as if they don't understand what you're saying, just keep explaining yourself over and over in a more condescending voice each time... I find it more satisfying that straight up telling them off
