When I take incalls I bring clients straight upstairs to the bedroom, once I've got the money from them I tell them to make themselves at home and I take it downstairs, count it and give it to my friend who I have in the house for my safety and peace of mind.
On days thay I don't have a friend there I do the same process but instead of passing it to my friend I'll hide it somewhere random and inconspicuous, under the washing machine for example or pushed under the carpet in a room downstairs which they haven't been into or Seen me enter. I always take steps to ensure they dont see where I leave the money, you never know when you're gonna get a "grabber" who thinks they are entitled to their money back for whatever reason whether malicious or just disgruntled with a service provided.
On a documentary I saw that some ladies use a UV light machine to check the legitimacy of the money, I don't know how reliable they are but I intend to look into them as they seem like a good idea. Pens like mentioned above are also supposed to work, whether they do or not I don't know.
With outcalls, buy a handbag with a loud zip and well hidden inside compartments that aren't easily accessible to a potential sneak thief. Have your bag full of make up or whatever, newspaper would work, I know it sounds silly but if he does manage to slide his hand in there you're gonna hear him doing it right away.
Take your bag everywhere with you on outcalls, especially to the loo. Just say you need to touch up your make up or powder your nose if you don't want to give the impression of a paranoid person clutching their bag
