How do I get over my fear of outcalls
« on: 11 July 2024, 01:08:18 am »
I’ve been working 6 years and I still hate outcalls to hotels. I get anxiety and overthink about getting stopped, people looking at me or what I’m going to wear to detract attention on myself. I’ve done many outcalls and I have anxiety until I get into the hotel room. I really don’t know how to overcome this as I’m seriously losing money from not taking these bookings. Whether I take an outcall booking depends on the mood I’m in. I much prefer going to someone’s private place than a hotel, which is strange as it’s usually the opposite for some people. I think it comes from many bad experiences from fake bookings to moody receptionists that have many questions. How do I just get over this as I think it’s ridiculous I’ve worked this long and i still feel like this

For me a modern hotel with CCTV monitored car park, a reception to speak to and key card entry is stressful.

An older in town hotel that I can walk to, easy access to rooms is my preference, I always phone the client when in the hotel and speak to them as I approach the room.

I  get myself into mindset of 'I'm going to my room, I am supposed to be here', I like to have as much of the client's name as possible but have never yet been asked. Just act normal. I also try to avoid visiting the same hotels in a short period of time.

Faye I think outcalls can be a nerve wrecking anyway.
Can you distract with music on ear pods
when you get there so receptionists realise your on a call and won't bother you.
Just an idea.
I have had some odd and uncomfortable outcalls in my early days of working but I just do incalls nowadays .
I m not sure that's an option you want .
You are brave to do private residence outcalls
Hope things change for you

Regards fake bookings I always take a deposit unless I've seen the client at least twice recently, or there is a pattern e.g. I tour a place once a year, he's booked and gone ahead every time for several years.

I have a calf length coat one for winter, one for summer. Button through maxi dresses are useful, and those that go just over knee. Flat shoe, heels in a bag.

I no longer offer outcalls but when I did them I always inwardly groaned but never had any problems. Similar to Mirror my outcall (home to client) attire was sensible flat or low heeled shoes/plain long coat or if in summer then a long skirt and lightweight sweater or top. A pair of specs always made me feel more invisible and though I need them now the ones I wore then were often non prescription. Hair in a pony tail which I would remove and fluff my hair out before knocking on his room door. Heels and other stuff obviously in a small holdall.

I was slightly paranoid that everyone might know "what" I was but I think I got it right so once in his room the nerves disappeared.

I'll never forget one man asking if I would arrive in thigh boots and mini dress. Err no!   That was for hotel visits. I rarely did home visits but again used my brain and all went smoothly 🙂

I'm not sure if this helps you but it's good to remind yourself that what you're doing isn't illegal. You are allowed to go to a hotel room and see somebody, the same way a client is free to order takeout or something to their hotel room. It helps me to ask myself what is the worst that could happen and how could I prepare for that eventuality? I usually ask clients to meet me in the lobby. Receptionists might notice you but you won't be the only sex worker to have ever entered that hotel, their opinion doesn't matter.
