Hey, I'm just about to start off in this business and I have learnt that cashing a deposit is a good form of a slight form of good knowledge that a punter will show. However, I'm not sure how I receive this deposit. Do I get hold of card details or is money sent to me? I'm really not sure, Thanks for your time xxx

If you use AW you can take a credit voucher from the client, all he needs is an email address for you. If you withdraw the credits you do lose 30% as an admin fee to the site, so if you had 75 credits you would get ?50. Or you can use the credits to promote your page, display your number, buy items from AWs market place etc

I've also had clients top up my work mobile phone and send me the payment reference number or buy me Amazon vouchers.

There are also cards like 360 mentioned on the second page of http://www.saafe.info/main/index.php?topic=1547.15 this topic, I think Paris would be able to give your more info on them.

Search for "deposit" to see how we do it. It's generally not as simple as just having some cash sent to you.

I find deposits useful, but I wouldn't recommend a newbie taking deposits routinely. They put some people off whatever the situation, but if you're new on the scene and asking for money before an appointment people are going to worry more than usual that it's just a scam. Unless this is only a sideline and you're willing to sacrifice a lot of bookings for the sake of knowing you're not wasting your time, your bookings should be mostly deposit-free at least for now.

Taking a deposit when there's something like extra travel that would make you reluctant to go otherwise is a good idea, though.

Oh, I forgot you were 17. Jumping right in to escorting to support yourself as soon as you you turn 18 is quite extreme, so if you just want to dabble a bit feel free to ask for a deposit before you arrange anything.

I thought if someone buys you a Voucher via AW it cannot be withdrawn as credits? i.e., it can only be spent/used via the site as you say promoting your page, sales etc etc.. but cannot be cashed up. Can anyone else confirm this.

That's how I see it, you can only withdraw credits you've earned but if you get a Voucher it has to be re-used via the site, i.e., can't be withdraw/cashed up - (as I've read the conditions upon purchasing a Credit Voucher a few times now & was a bit miffed at this!)

How about asking him to subscribe to your private gallery as a deposit (go in and change your private gallery price temporarily to whatever you want your deposit to be, for example 20 credits)?

Then you will definitely receive the credits in bank transfer or cheque etc x

Yes that's a good idea, I just seen someone on AW who states this:

Purchase my private gallery (3 months option = ?20) as a booking deposit, this will be taken off the total fee. Non-refundable (If YOU cancel)

So you could set a 3rd option in your Private Gallery (if you haven't already got one) and then explain the above to them, if you want to do it that way of course.

Be aware that AW specifically banned deposits from the marketplace, so they might not be happy about the workaround. It could be ok since the client also gets a tangible thing for it, but I'd rather use other methods: less risk and you keep all or most of the money.

(If you do use the gallery method you could do it even if you already have three subscription options by selling a PIN to a folder.)
