I know I was too confident not to have bought a work phone, but I started including my personal number on the ads just a few months ago. I just googled my number and appears some ads with my number... I removed the ads but a few are still on the search. I know it's really hard or impossible to them being removed, but if there is some way to do it, PLEASE TELL ME.
Before I made the same mistake with my email address, two people noticed it and I lied to them, telling them it was not me who put it on the net, so I can say the same if I am asked about it, but I'm still worried.
Anyways, I have never thought about a work phone because I have no 'work hours which I can answer the phone'. I don't know where and with whom I will be and many of the clients that ask for a number is to chat via WhatsApp. I normally use my email address to contact clients. Do you think is still worth to buy a work phone?

God, yes. Get a work phone. For just this reason. Also, you may want to be able to turn off the work phone. Mine rings all damn day and night.

Don't quote me on it but I think even when you have deleted the offending ads with your telephone number on them it takes google quite a few weeks/months for them to disappear completely.

Hi Seleranda,
EXACTLY the same thing happened to me! When I started out, I didn't want to invest any money buying a work phone, so I put ads up with my personal number, thinking that when I deleted the ads, my number would disappear from Google listings.
You have to contact Google themselves, as the site you advertised on has no control over Google listings. Here is a link to the Google page I used: https://support.google.com/webmasters/answer/164734?hl=en (mods, sincerest apologies if that's not allowed).
Once i'd done that, the listings were gone within about a week or so. This was 2 months ago, and I placed over 100 ads on 20 different sites, and I can Google my number with absolutely no results, so it definitely worked :)
Regarding whether you should get a work phone - YES! Mine's a crap little pay-as-you-go one, and it cost me the grand total of ?9.99 plus a tenner to top it up. And as I pretty much never make any calls or texts, only receive them, I spend less than a tenner a month on top-up.
Really hope this helps, as I was in the same position and I know it's scary! PM me if necessary.

Maybe easier just to buy a new personal phone and text everyone in your phone book that thats your new number and not to use the old one anymore x
