I use both, I have some really good professional photos that make me look, shall we say the best I’m ever going to look  ;D

But I have a couple of home photos too. No one has ever commented on my professional ones but for some reason I have lost count of the compliments on one of my home pics that I thought was the most awful ever. Il never get my head round it.

Professional ones are great for my ‘shop window’ but I think a lot know they are airbrushed ect where as home photos they think are the real me, when really iv used more filters than Kim k 🤣🤣

I provide a similar service to you and I have never had professional photos done, I’ve always used selfies or photos I’ve taken myself and I get plenty of business doing that so have never felt the need to do a professional shoot- that’s just my experience. You could try with selfies and if that doesn’t work do a pro shoot and see if it makes a difference?

I take all my pictures myself, and none are filtered or edited in any way. Many men have commented on how much they love my pictures, and how authentic and intimate they are. As a point of reference, I am independent and my prices are much higher than yours.

I have thought about having a ‘professional’ set done, and I might, but for now, taking my own is serving me really well.

What I would suggest is that if you’re taking your own and you don’t already own a selfie stick/selfie tripod, buy one and make sure it has a remote control. Absolute game-changer. Should you opt for professional pictures, be sure to ask for a light touch with the airbrushing, photoshopping as I’ve noticed many with heavy handed airbrushing.

I use both and I think you can get different types of clients with both of them. There's people who find that professional shots show commitment to your brand and business, that you invest in it, and they're drawn by that. At the same time there are those who want to get the most "real" experience they can get, and tend to love more the homemade pics because they may think that professional means edited > fake.

You can have gorgeous professional pics that are not edited (except for lighting and such) and many of them will still think that pro means "not natural", so having homemade pics that show you're exactly the same person and one is just polished can help with those clients. I tend to upload selfies to Twitter and made a section in my website's gallery for those selfies too. But I still hire a photo session about 2-3 times a year to update working pics.

One of my best ROI pics was a mix of this, it was taken by a professional photographer but was totally improvised and had no editing, thus looking like a bit of a polished homemade pic. I try to go for that in my photo sessions since it works well for my brand, but in the end it's about defininf what type of clients you enjoy and want to attract more and balance the type of pics for that.

I think it's good to have a photoshoot with a professional, both to get some decent photos and some ideas about lighting, poses etc. But don't have them heavily Photoshopped and mix them with plenty of selfies or pics taken by a friend etc.

I like to have a professional shoot once every year but with minimal editing but I have a lot of selfies and amateur pics as well.

Like Kay I've picked up a lot of tips from professional photoshoots including developing my style, and tips from make up artists which some won't shoot without. I use a mixture of photos on my adverts and website, some from my phone, some glamour shoots, some photographers inbetween the two.

How much is a professional shoot?

Can vary from a couple of hundred to over £1000.

Depends on a variety of factors.

I prefer to advertise with home made photos as I feel they offer clients a truer reflection on who they will be meeting
