Herpes simplex virus: How bad could it possibly be?
« on: 31 August 2015, 12:28:05 am »
It was on Wednesday 19th of August that I contracted something I would have for the rest of my life. It just a normal day having fun in oxford when I  started to have cystitis like symptoms  burning/itching when having a wee, I never like to take drugs straight away I prefer to let my body try to fight things off so I drank plenty of water took ibrobufen and carried on like a Trojan!

By Saturday afternoon symptoms had not improved so I checked out of [hotel name removed] at 2pm and headed for home. Dr prescribed me antibiotics based on what I told him on the phone. By Sunday afternoon I discovered I have lymph nodes in my groin and boy were they sore! THe pain when peeing brought me to tears screaming the house down and ohh so nauseous. I started wondering if this could be more than just a standard water infection, especially as usually antibiotics work right away with me.

That evening whilst in the shower I discovered some whiteheads inside my outer lip, they were quite sore but Boy I love a good squeeze!

The pain and discomfort worsened by the hour, toilet time was becoming intolerable, i am someone that believes "my body is a temple" but I started looking at what pain relief I could get my hands on. Tramadol as many as I could possibly take along with paracetamol.

It was about midnight I discovered that the spots were actually blisters and I had really pissed them off, 2 had become 4 and Google assured me I'd get many more and I did they popped up everywhere.

I didn't get an ounce of sleep and the tramadol did nothing to curb the agony. 9.15am I arrived at my local gum clinic, unable to sit and unable to stand I was a pretty sorry sight. I just cried.

So I had blisters inside my VJ, inside my wee hole (which might explain the pain) outside my VJ on my lips inner and outer and on my anus (yup) So antiviral and local anaesthetic later I'm sent home.

Tuesday 11.30am my nitrous oxide arrived which meant wee time would no longer mean I'd scream and cry the house down for an hour each time. So yes I risked my life to relieve the wee time agony.

By Wednesday I'd ran out of anaesthetic, they left me standing up so long at the GUM clinic I passed out from the agony. You cannot imagine the pain, the only way I can explain it is imagine your whole clit, inner and outer lips have been cut off with a blunt blade and sewn up.

On Friday I returned to the gum clinic, my whole VJ had swelled up twice -three times the size and was yellow, my blisters had got infected. Now I had to bathe it and scrape off all the infected skin.

It's now Sunday 30th August, the swelling has gone down the infection is clearing up and my blisters are no longer as sore. I'm suffering from sciatica in my lower back and back of my legs. Paresthesia (skin sore and sensitive to touch) it's agony any movement feels like sandpaper I can't wear clothes I can't walk because my feet feel like I have no skin on them. Apparently all to do with the virus and the antiviral I'm on.

70% of the population have the herpes virus but most have no symptoms so have no idea they have it.
So that's the last time I'll let a client lick me out and hopefully if you have been as silly as me you will take a leaf out of my book.

Bloody hell, Leah, that's a tough read. But are you going to keep on escorting? Is that wise, even when your symptoms go?

Also, why do you think it was contracted through RO: did you see someone who had an obvious cold sore?

To be fair, there are loads of people who have the virus yet go about their life as normal, due to not having outbreaks at all and thus not knowing. It's extremely common among promiscuous adults. With suppressive therapy (and outside of outbreak window), the risks of female to male transmission are very low.

To my knowledge you can have herpes for years without an outbreak so I think it's unlikely to be from ro. Isn't it skin to skin contact so condoms won't prevent it? I'll have to read it up again

Jesus Leah

I hope that that was just the initial outbreak symptoms. I know it isn't much consolation but my first cold sore saw me on antibiotics, a mega swollen face and lips and bed ridden with a fever.  Around three months later I had another cold sore and all that I had was the blister on my lip, no swelling or pain or fever and that's all it's been for the years that followed

I no longer get stressed so (touch wood) they've stopped popping up.

The doctor can prescribe preventative tabs and I believe that you can puchase some electrical item from Boots that zaps the blister, though I haven't used one but my mother sings its praise

Hope you're feeling better and it doesn't happen again  :-[

If someone has a herpes on the lips and it gives you oral you can take it from it and it happens exactly what Leah say about. Few years ago i had it also but the blisters disapear in 2-3days  and i had just few not to many. The doctors say that i have the chance to have those blisters again if my imunity sistem is low and that i should not let persons to lick me if they have something on their lips.

That's a good question.

Did someone who gave you oral have blisters around their mouth? As it is only contracted during an outbreak. As others have said, it's possible you could have been carrying for some time but due to an immune system drop for one reason or another you only just started presenting symptoms.

Oh fuck you poor thing..!! Hope you're feeling a bit better by now, it sounds like hell!!
So, like a few girls mentioned, did you catch it from a client with active herpes?? I.e a cold sore??
Coz that would be the only way too catch it wouldn't it?
I know we all carry it and it can show as a cold sore etc., but that sounds severe and awful!!  :(

It really isn't - the herpes virus (and probably others) can still be passed on even without any visible rash or sores, particularly if somebody is a bit run down. Google 'asymptomatic viral shedding' (which I've probably misspelt as I'm in a hurry).

Hi ladies,

Drs said due to the severity of my outbreak it was the first time I'd been introduced to the virus there is no question of this, but yes you are correct it could have equally been from someone's skin touching my VJ. It was my first day back at work in 2weeks so I can almost pinpoint the occasion

NO the person didn't have visible signs, and the idea that it can only be passed if the person has sores is incorrect as AMY mentions.

Will I continue to escort? Sadly financially there is no question of choice. The Drs said I should be ok to continue as long as I stay on anti viral (which will prevent another outbreak and prevent viral shreading) because the anti viral is making me So Ill im in between a rock and hard place at the moment. I have an appointment with the GUM Drs tomorrow, I'm hoping they have a different anti viral for me to try.
One thing is for sure if I return it won't be for at LEAST a week

Xx

God this is getting scarier by the day..  :o  Catching herpes from RO, chlamidya and gonnorhea from OWO..
I would much rather only offer OW and not allow RO, but there's not gonna be much left and I'm really worried how it would affect my business..
I know I wouldn't give a s**t about that if it happened to me, it sounds like both of you went through hell, and it could happen to anyone!
I wish clients would be more aware too, and not be so keen on wanting these services, for their OWN health as well as ours...!
I don't have to be perfect, but I'm perfect at being me!

Hi Leah,

Sorry to sound so graphic but I know for a fact that a further outbreak is unlikely to happen if you are careful in terms of friction. What I mean is, make sure you and your clients are lubricated etc and go easy. This will ensure you don't spark it all off again.

I know how horrible it is but if you are careful you will get it either very rarely (and never as bad as it was) or never again. This isn't a condition that should stop your sex life. It just needs managing and for you to stop sex once you feel you are potentially triggering it again.

Yep. I was actually talking to a friend the other day about how pharmaceutical companies created this huge stigma around herpes, so that people consider it almost as bad as HIV. It's bullshit really, just means you have to be careful with how you have sex now you have it.
