I had an email from a lady who read my post yesterday and she kindly emailed me the name of a site called rare escorts.  I'm completely rubbish at techy stuff but I had a look at it this morning and in just a few hours i had the back bone of my site done already.  i'm now just waiting for my photos and editing it so that im happy with everything and i would imagine i will be up and running by Mon/tues.  I'm suprised to hear my self say that i actually enjoyed doing it aswell!!! its fun once you work out what your doing and how you want it laid out.

i had a look at moon fruit and although the templates were nicer looking (in my opinon anyway)  i felt that rare escorts offered much more.

good luck

Yeah I suppose different opinions funny you say that I found that website not appealing to me but thats because I don't really need optimization as much as about 9% come from google in comparison to directories etc. I do think moonfruit is not striking at first look. Also if your not a whiz mira design is really good I liked that they actually do it all for you the design and everything.

I get 15% from Google and that's not even with professional optimisation, just my own attempts, so it can make a difference. Rare-escorts is good for getting a site up without much fuss, though.

Just want to add that I was toying with the idea of a free site and they are excellent from what I have seen but in the end opted for a pay as you go which currently costs me ?30 a month.

Cannot remember what swung me but something must have done - perhaps the effort of doing it myself seemed too much !

I am very happy to date with the outcome (although that,s my personal opinion!) and was amazed that on a google search it came out very high.

However, saying that, looking long term than paying out ?30 a month is not economical so I will be upgrading shortly to a full site which as yet am not sure what it will cost, but initially the ?30 a month seemed a good option in my particular case.

Anyway, good luck with your site!
love

Hi ladies,

Sorry for hyjacking this thread but not sure where to put it. I've decided to buy a Domain name as my site is almost finished now :)! I was wondering is it ok to register everything with my soon to be working name and a fake address, just putting in my real details for the payment so my info is kept private ???

if your discovered using a fake address, if its a .co.uk, nominet could suspend your registration

there are many privacy services around, its probably safter to use one of them for example in the uk www.123-reg.co.uk offer one at ?4.99 a year
http://www.123-reg.co.uk/domain-names/whois-privacy.shtml

godaddy do it for .com and a few others and i think that works out about the same cost

Just wanted to add that I'm using moonfruit to construct my site. The first 2 weeks can be done as a free trial then you can decide which option to sign up to I've opted for the most basic pay option, which is only ?2.99 per month and can be cancelled anytime.

What happens if i choose to use my free website for a while and then upgrade it to a pro site?  if i buy a domain name do i get to keep it or do i have to change it?  im just thinking that by the time i get around to upgrading (and i will cos i hate the design of mine) i might have some regular clients or people might have browesed me a few times by then with the intention of one day calling and suddenly my domain name will be gone.

Kemie, i know you are the one who is going to answer this for me... you have done tons to help me with my site so far so what is your opinon????

All other opinons still welcone. L.x  :)

Whoever you use to buy the domain, you need to make sure that you'll own it. I'm afraid that means reading all the small-print. You can move a domain you own from one host to another. The process will probably cost more than registering it in the first place and you may be tempted to let the domain expire and re-register it with your new host, but look up domain kiting to find out why that's a bad idea.

It's possible that you can avoid moving the domain if you use a company like 123-reg which does basic domain registration as well as web hosting. You could register a domain there and have it point to your free site, then when you want to upgrade you could by webspace from them and put your site there. (This will complicate things with some webmasters, but you'll be able to find some who won't mind using your existing provider.)

Any competent webmaster will be happy delaing with Anika`s suggestion, so I would go that route, register it yourself, so its yours

using 123-reg as an example they offer two options of linking your domain to a site,
the first one domain forwarding, (think telephone number forwarding) just hides your real domain name, eg you have me.alongdoma.moonfruit.com by using webforwarding, your customer can use your new domain name instead

the second is by pointing the domain name at the server your sites on, some diy site options offer that, the buzz word there is nameservers, some dont so you would have to use the first option, if you have a site built, your webmaster will tell you what nameserves to use, then you would just log into 123-reg, pop them in the two boxes, hit go and job done

of course there is always help here for both of the above if needed
