Picture advice
« on: 13 March 2015, 10:10:49 am »
Hi everyone,

I would really like to expand a little, and have my own profile on the net, plus ask a few questions about pictures on AW. Firstly, do the quality of the pictures matter? I was considering paying a little bit more for an escort photographer to do mine rather than taking selfies. But then I know not all clients were the same. I came across a review of an escort recently where the client complained about the quality of the girls flat but had been so turned on by the picture (body selfie) that he didn't consider anything else. It seems to have been pot luck with me. I try and take good ones, but, considering I would like my own website, would it be better to have good quality professional pics?

Also, on the AW site, in the private section, does it matter or not if you show your face? Do any of you? I have been touring away from where I live for the risk of being outed, the fact I have a professional job full time and I have family and a partner up here who would not approve of me doing this, so I was going to put on some short films in the private section showing me more fully. But then I know I need to weigh up if I do decide to (discreetly) occasionally work from my home town, is it worth it?

I had some amazing quality boudoir ones taken not so long ago which when a few people saw, they said were stunning and were very jealous. So again, was thinking about using similar ones for the website, and maybe a few on AW.

Thanks  :)

Hey Lil Lolita,

Picture do matter. Your pictures will draw a potential client in and it is the first impression a client has of you. As the saying goes 'picture paints a thousand words'. In this industry it certainly does.

I don't think you need to show your face on AW even in the private section. If you don't feel comfortable doing it then don't. That pretty much goes for all aspects of the job.

I'm not sure how much a professional photographer would cost but you have to weight up cost versus return, i.e. how many more clients would you like to draw in against the cost over time. By the sounds of it you work occasionally.

All the best Lou x :)

Thanks Lou :) I've had a look at some professional photographers outwith the area I live, their prices all vary, but I am definitely considering it!

In my opinion, a mixture of amateur photos, selfies, and a few "glamour shots" work well. There's nothing wrong with presenting our best - even slightly idealised - image. But punters are suspicious of slick photos so a few amateur shots that reassure them that there is a real person who is really shaped like that behind the profile would be very helpful.

I agree with Fabulassie re pix, in nine years I've never shown my face on the site and I've never used a professional pic either and I was never short of work.

Surroundings are important too and it sounds like the girl let herself down in that department.

Clients like to know their SP is a real person and not fabricated from a collection of professional photos.

Having your own website is important and is something I would invest in (you can actually get a website FOC so inexpensive) rather than professional pix.

Beauty is nothing to do with having a pretty face.
It is about having a pretty mind, a pretty heart,
And most importantly a beautiful soul.

The best pictures depend on your marketing. 'Impossibly beautiful supermodel' requires different ones to 'woman next door': the former needs the sort of pictures that might actually harm the latter, because some people will assume they're faked or stolen.

Apart from that, it's much the same as the text: make them interesting. There are clients who only care about price, size, age etc but there are also plenty who care about personality.*

Getting that across can mean having interesting backgrounds or colours or anything else. The two of the three that spring to mind aren't visible any more because they've retired: one YES client had photos in front of rusting machinery / in gardens, and someone else had sets of doing things like the Naked Bike Ride. Both attracted much more attention and are much more memorable than yet another 'here are my tits' one. Another YES client has them in a story order: standing at at open hotel door looking down the corridor ending up with lying on the bed.

As far as face pictures go, 'private' gallery or not, you can assume that once they're published, everyone has seen them and there will be copies around forever. You may or may not be happy with that. Unless you're delighted with it, if you're going to have them, it may be worth making them different in style etc to the more compromising ones: if worst comes to worst, you can deny that the non-face ones are you. If you're not, it's worth remembering that the large majority of people who want to see face pics 'before they book you' are never going to book you anyway.

* The ratio may well vary according to what's on offer: for quickies and PSE, personality is not so important as it is for longer bookings and GFE.

'The Ian formerly known as SW5'. What they said: "Indispensable", "You are our best resource", and (hours later!) "I'm afraid that you're being made redundant..."
