Hi Larah,
If I've understood this right, you are asking about 'social only' or 'companion' escorting, to which the short answer to your question is no, there is no market for this whatsoever. There are, however, plenty of people advertising as 'companion' agencies who will tell you otherwise, because they want you to give them money.
Everybody on this board bar the Advertisers and Project Workers is a prostitute, and this would also go for the people you know if they are earning any money (which would probably explain why they are being cagey about it). People do not (or only extremely rarely) pay total strangers hundreds of pounds to have dinner with them or take them to the theatre - why would they, when they can hire one of us for exactly the same thing and get sex as well?
You can 'class' yourself how you like, but without having sex for money, you're not in the 'escorting industry'. The good news is that being treated like 'trash' is not part of it either - I have been a working prostitute for over eight years, and not only can I count the number of times this has happened to me on one hand, the appointments were terminated immediately and the client asked to leave. The media portrayal of prostitutes and client couldn't be further from the truth - we are not dopey, desperate scrubbers who'll shag anything that walks through the door and our clients are not sleazy, smelly old perverts in dirty macs either.
I'm sure you don't mean any offence, and I'm sure none has been taken, but 'escorting' as you are describing it does not exist. This forum is for sex workers, and unless you are prepared to reconsider your plans, we can't do anything to help you, I'm afraid.
