It depends on how late, how long they've booked for, what you have planned for afterwards and whether they've kept you in touch with what's happening or just turn up 25 minutes after a 30 minute booking was supposed to have started and expect you to be delighted to see them then.

It happens to me, too.

Are you giving very clear directions? Are they getting lost or stuck in traffic? I make a point of telling them that they should allow for traffic as I am in a city centre.

I also leave plenty of time between bookings. But if they're going to run over then I have to turn them away. They can't really complain if they're 20 minutes late or more. I have had such clients book and come back another day!

ohh yes its happened a few times and i get annoyed because when im waiting for them i could be gaining other clients or what not!

ive had a few ring me up and say theyre coming in 20 minutes and just dont bother showing up so rude ive started saving numbers in my phone under time wasters because ive had it a lot today and lost a lot of money so not sure if i am willing to give the no shows a second chance.

im going to give more strict instructions i dont mind 10 mins or so but 45 mins is a bit of a joke and disrespectful xxx

It depends on how you operate. If you're doing 'on the day' bookings, you can tell them that you won't consider the booking confirmed until they call you from 'wherever' (e.g. somewhere nearby where you can see them, or they can describe something to prove they are there). Even then, you will get some who simply don't show.

For me it depends on who I have got booked in next, if I have a regular booked in after them I have to turn them away or tell them they will have to wait or re schedule. The worst thing you can do is turn somebody away that is waiting to see you with cash in their pocket and then find that the next booking is a no-show.

This is true but my take on it depends on how and why he is late. If he keeps in touch and lets me know he is late because of traffic etc then if I am not busy I will see him, if a guy rocks up quite late again if I am not busy I might see him but I will say to him that if he sees me again and is running late he must let me know as I will have to turn him away most times. I find it very bad manners and disrespectful when guys turn up late without a word and eventually they will find I just won't see them again with this attitude. At the end of the day we are running a business if a guy turned up majorly late to any other type of appointment then he would be turned away. I also have a rule if they turn up more than half an hour late they will get a much shorter appointment unless as I say they are genuine then I will do my best to give them the amount of time they booked for.

It has happened to me some times and it is really annoying when you have a busy day...

Sometimes they are late beacuse of traffic jam or because they don't know how to arrive to my address or even because they fall asleep :FF

So, if I have lot of work I tell them coming an other day, but always with love and kindness. Finally if I don't have a busy day I wait for them to arrive...
