hi there,

I was wondering if any of you have ever claimed any  of the expences back at the end of the tax year.

You enter expenses onto you SA100 self-assessment forms along with your income. They subtract your expenses from your gross income and tax the remainder.

Yes I do it every year.

Anything essential for your line of work such as;

Condoms
Lube
Toys
Lingerie
Petrol(or mileage)
Hotels
Also you can claim a portion or all of your rent, water, electricity, gas, council tax depending upon your incall arrangements
Food away from home
Advertising
Internet access

Yes you keep the receipts as proof incase you are ever investigated or asked to prove things.

Yes definately keep hold of all your receipts. If you wanted to you could be very anal about it like me and keep a file with envelopes for every month in it. Store your receipts in there and they cant get lost or mixed up.
Make sure you claim back for every little thing you are entitled too as it will really make a difference in your tax bill. Last year i looked at what my tax bill would have been had i not claimed my expenses and it would have been almost 2 grand more!

It sure does. Remember also that you can make a small claim for using your home as an office.  ;)
