Hello! I'm just starting and need advice!
« on: 25 June 2023, 09:16:12 pm »
Hello! I'm just entering the world of (in-person) sex work, and I could use some advice. Thanks in advance!

First, I'd like to screen my clients. My ideas for this are asking for a picture of their ID, asking for a selfie of them holding up their ID, and asking for two references from previous women. Is this too much? Not enough? Suggestions?

Second, I think I'll feel safest meeting in hotel rooms. (I can't do in-calls.) Is that actually safer than going to someone's home? Do I bring the same kind of supplies? Do I have the same safety plan? Is it a good idea to check in with reception? (I won't be doing more than one call a night.)

Third, if I get paid up front in cash, how do I keep that cash safe? Should I put it in my car before going back to the room? Should I just keep an eye on it? Similarly, if I don't have a separate phone, should I just keep an eye on mine while we're in the room?

Lastly, I live about an hour away from where I'll be working. Does that add any complications?

I really appreciate your advice and support! Thank you for being here!

Hi, if you’re working incall and asking for ID and selfies you probably will get knocked back a lot. Tbh you’ll get a million time wasters and no shows to start, and sounds silly but it’s kind of good because you’ll start to be a really good judge of character of who’s genuine and who’s not.

I usually trust my gut feeling so I insist on phone calls only for first bookings, so I can get a feel of who they are, and what they might be like.
I expect a brief discussion of area/time/how long, and then I ask what area they are from so I can eliminate my neighbours! If they start talking about sex in a descriptive manor I know they are wanking and not gonna show. If they ask something simple like ‘just checking it’s ow or owo’ ‘could you wear stockings’ then that’s a bit different. I only want to be on the phone for about 3-4 mins.

Money first always, some are different but I leave it on the side. I don’t leave the room if I can help it.
I wouldn’t leave client in the room to go to car, you don’t know what they will do to your stuff!

Incall in a hotel is much safer, I also have a panic alarm in my condom bag next to bed anyway, just in case.

I have a large travel bag that I leave in my car for ease. Happy to explain what I have if you want extra info, I’ve tried to pack clever and minimal as poss.

This forum is the best thing you can read for all info. It’s helped me massively, I’ve read back years worth of questions and answers. Use the search bar for everything!

Hi Jade, welcome to Saafe. No doubt Amy will be here soon to tell you which part of the forum to read  :)

I never ask clients for selfies or ID as it would send them running for the hills.

Instead I ask them to ring me and listen to how polite, friendly and warm they are. Things that make them sound like a nice, decent person.

No witheld numbers, either. There is an app ClientEye that you can enter the callers number into and see if there's any warning about them.

Before I started,  I spent a long time reading this forum. Best thing I ever did  :)

Good luck!

You can do incalls from hotel rooms, apartments, or your home. (or anywhere else you want to receive visitors :)) As above, get the money first then you can invite them to take a shower while you stash the cash somewhere safe.

Asking for references from other providers is more common in the US where prostitution is illegal.

Regarding working an hour or so away from home, be aware that some clients will have the same idea so you might want to take phone bookings even just to gauge their local accent and reduce the chances of seeing someone too local.

Hi Jade and welcome to SAAFE :)

The previous posters won't know this, but your IP suggests you're in the US? If that's right then yes, the screening you've described is more appropriate - most of the people here (although by no means all) are in the UK, where we don't need to worry about law enforcement. Punters expect personal privacy as a general rule here, just as we do.

If not, then a) you need to switch your VPN off and b) the posts above certainly apply, with the caveat that relying too much on third parties to screen for you isn't a good idea as you'll never learn to do it yourself. Hotels as a start for incalls are definitely a good plan - if it doesn't work out, you can just pack up your stuff and leave.

There is a search box up on the top right so you can look for information here, and If you haven't seen the main SAAFE site, there is a lot there too :)
