Having a really slow start
« on: 08 July 2010, 01:41:56 pm »
Ok I admit patience isnt my virtue but I was expecting some intial rush of a honeymoon period, in fact I specially bought frozen peas to sit on after a long days work.

However been up and running this week and at times I have been wondering if 1)phone broken 2) world has ended.

I am even on adultwork atm and thats not generation anything as well. Its weird because I have done this before and was quite successful so I am at a loss to whats going on.

Am I being paranoid or is it down to everyone being on their summer hols?

Awwww Hi Amber *waves * perhaps its just a bad week  hunny. I've only been working a month and last week was ready to hang up the stockings, one booking JUST paid the bills and we'd run out of everything at home loo roll, washing up liquid etc etc it was pants! This week however has been so much better and according to others that is what this business is like, it seems its all or nothing!  Hang on in there sweetie, I hope things pick up soon

There are several threads on this forum, even on the first page of this section, about advertising tips, touring possibilities and seasonal trends in the sex industry so a quick browse of those might help you. :)

Other than those... I'm not sure what else could be suggested. It's generally more useful to make your own assessment about trends in the precise area that you work in using Punternet and Adultwork et al - you can see, for example, if Ms Rumpybottom is super-popular and living next door to you, charging ?20 per hour all services included, by checking out recent AW feedback and Pnet reviews and her profile and website. You can see whether perhaps a crack team of 200 Lithuanian Babes have moved into a flat on the other side of you to open a 24/7 brothel, too. Or maybe whether there are just tons of fake profiles and/or gross bareback crackhead profiles in your area so maybe you just need to modify your AW profile and/or website to make it clear that you are 200% better than that and that clients mustn't be put off by the riffraff.

Sorry if you've done all those things already or are already tired of sifting through AW's heaping piles of rankness trying to find out about your 'competition'. :P

Also, don't forget to look at EVERY SINGLE website for every other hussy you can find to see what directories etc they're listed on - they'll have all their banners on the front page, usually, or a Links page. Also, setting up a blog and swapping blog links with all of us here can be a useful thing to do - loads of my clients adore the idea of blog-surfing their way to other classy birds like me. ;D

What is the area like that you live in? I lived in a rough part of london and hardly got any bookings but now living in a really nice place and getting lots of emails every day.
A lot of my regulars are busy this month with holidays and children being off school etc. I hope it picks up for you x x x x

I am just fustrated more than anything but I know it will pick up soon. I am in the process of starting a blog and will then hassle everyone to exchange links! really great idea. I have been lurking on the other girls websites to see what the lastest website, photos ect is happening and also seeing what banners they have so I feel like all the work is going in the right direction just not seeing it come into fruitation.

I haven't changed areas but Cardiff and South Wales can be a tough market sometimes.

I suppose its because I mentally preped myself for a couple of weeks of working my ass of so when it hasnt happened I have all this energy to dispell (at the moment the hoover is my victim) so I am getting more and more fustrated.

Anyway enough of my doom and gloom (now where did I put that dyson)

O.k, Iv'e just read that again, and slapped myself on wrists. If you have a look through the threads on main questions and answers page 1, 2, 3,  that will give you an idea of how its been the last few weeks.

Lucy, it's been like that for the last three years. Not everyone does thorough searches and reads the whole board before asking questions - I have no idea what you meant by the 'refer to' post either. If you think another thread may be helpful to somebody please include a link to it rather than attempting sarcasm (or if you're going to try and be sarcastic at least make it a bit less cryptic).

If the newbie questions irritate you, please ignore the threads and move on to others which do not - there are plenty of members who are happy to answer them and no-one is obliged to answer every query on the board. It is not for you to criticise those who are looking for help, however 'repetative' it may be.

Amber (and others), the Search box is on the top right - if you type in keywords like 'advertising', 'tax', 'touring' or whatever, you can easily find old threads where these topics have been covered and they may answer some of your questions.

Yes, quite. Newbie questions do not annoy me in the slightest, and that is why I came back and slapped myself on wrists. I did actually pm amber and apologise as well.

I wouldn't worry too much, I had a very slow start for the first 6 months, the it built up and then it went down and up again - and no prediction worked, holidays, bank holidays, races, bad weather, good weather, other giels being busy, other girls being quiet...

In short the only thing that is really predictable in this job is that it is unpredictable.

I do apreciate that if you have been on the forum for a while then getting the same topics coming up time and time again. however I do personally feel that all because it is the same old topic doesnt mean that there is nothing new to be said on it.

I do admit that I was being too vague on my reason for posting and that was to find out new ways girls are marketing themselves and to see if I was missing anything (also a bit of a whine too!)

Nothing wrong with a good whine, we all need one now and again.

As for marketing again always good to hear about new things, but to use Amy's phrase when it comes to what works for you it's Whorses for courses.
