Going back to work- indie vs. parlour
« on: 25 July 2014, 11:27:44 pm »
Hello everyone.

So basically, I worked in parlours for about 4 years but I took a break and had a baby. I have not worked now for about 2 and a half years and I have a 1 year old. I have decided that within the next couple of months I am going to return to work. Mainly for financial reasons,  having never had a 'proper' job, my options are somewhat limited.

My question is this- why do so many here recommend indie over parlour? As much as I would like to go indie, it seems alot more hard work... I would not be able to offer incalls at my home plus I would need to get a babysitter in advance,so last mi ute call outs wouldn't be an option. Does anyone think I could be indie in my situation?

Thanks for any advice :)

Personally, I think your first job should be trying to find a babysitter that you are comfortable with and that child is happy with too that is on hand whenever you need them.  This may be your biggest struggle as it doesnt sound like father is around.

Re agencies :Why pay someone to do work you can do for yourself then have to give them a big chunk of your earnings.

Hi Lady Lust

My mum or my babies paternal Grandma always babysit for me, but obviously need notice.
No, dad is away for a while.

The earnings bit and giving away- definitely... just thinking it also seems alot more work being independent...

Its not a lot of work and when independent you get to vet who you see.  With agency work you dont know who you are going to meet, who they are or if they are not an axe murderer.  The agency definitely wont vet them for you as all they want is their share of your earnings.

Thats super true- they will book me with anyone who wants a booking.

With incalls, I thought about renting a hotel but if I didn't have many bookings then I would really earn much, after paying for the room, how do girls work with this?

I'm a bit late to the party here, but as I understood it Bethany's asking about parlours, not agencies. I don't think anybody here has a particular problem with a decent parlour because at least you're getting some tangible stuff for the lump of money you're handing over in terms of security, a place to work, a bit of company and so on. If you can't do incalls then I can easily see why somebody with a child would prefer to just turn up at work, work and then leave afterwards and if parlours were tolerated in my area that's almost certainly how I would have started off.

I think it's more that we have fewer parlour workers posting here for the reasons above - they don't really have any need to get involved with the online bit and are less likely to go looking for forums and websites than people planning to work by themselves and are therefore doing lots of research. As for working independently, it takes as much or as little time as you want it to really; it's certainly more time-consuming but you get to keep all your money, so what you really need to do is decide whether it's that or your free time which is more valuable to you. And don't forget there's nothing stopping you doing both, either :).

Haha ok x

Thanks for your reply- funny, it hadn't crossed my mind to do both!! I think that may be an idea. Have an independent profile and vet any potential bookings, if they are worthwhile.
