Title: Getting back to sex work after hysterectomy.
Post by: ana30 on 28 July 2019, 02:35:40 pm
Hiya people,

Due to a golf size fibroma on the wall of my uterus I've been told by several specialists that hysterectomy is the only solution (hysterectomy= removal of the whole uterus). I've already scheduled it with the surgeon. It's going to be a laparoscopic type (minimal invasive surgery) and they will leave my ovaries as they don't want me to go into immediate menopause as there's nothing wrong with them. All my life I've had super painful periods and huge blood loss because of this problem so it's not like I'm going to miss my uterus. Plus I don't plan on having children, so basically they would be removing an organ that is of no use and only gives me  complications. Problem is deep down I'm scared to death and scared of the post operative care and how long it's going to take for me to do my normal life again.

My question to all is: has anyone had an histerectomy? how was it? Was it worth it? How long did it take you to get back to sex work?

thanks everybody,

Ana

I haven't been through this myself Ana but just wanted to wish you all the best for the procedure and a speedy recovery. Hopefully you'll be back up and running quickly but see what your surgeon says. They'll probably have some good advice about when it's safe to have intercourse again and how to minimise the risk of infection etc.

Thanks Grace, he did gave me valuable advice but then when I've talked with other women they seem to have had different experiences so was just asking around. ;)

Hi Ana
I hope your operation goes without any problems
My mum and cousin both had hysterectomy and were quite exhausted and in pain after it took much time to heal.
Do prioritise yourself and see what the specialists advise aftercare x

I think you'd be looking at 6-8 weeks, but it does depend on how the op goes, how you heal etc.
